2000 350 ES Honda rancher fan question

Good day rancher aficionados ,

I have a question regarding trouble shooting the fan circuit on my 2000 rancher 350 ES.

I disconnected the thermosensor and grounded the wire aganist the frame.

The fan started & the light came on like it is supposed to .

The question:

Does success in this test eliminate all other possibilities except the thermosenor being bad?

Thanks Jamie

2004 rancher 400 a/t warm idle issues

Starts normal, nice steady idle, shifts into gear beautifully. Take it out for a ride and after it warms up the engine randomly has a high idle that will not allow it to be shifted into gear . If I kill the motor and restart the idle is back down to where it should be.
When the high idle occurs blipping the throttle has no effect. No valve adjustments or any other routine maintenance was done prior to this when it started happening . Any ideas out there ? TIA

Rancher rear shaft question

2014 Rancher, on the rear shaft that runs into the axle there is a circular silver "plate" guessing to protect the seal where the shaft runs in… Mine is loose and just rattles around on the rear shaft. Trying to figure out how it is attached and if I am missing parts? I have tried pushing it back into place with no luck. Will try and post a pic

In addition, suddenly getting a high pitch squeal from the front end, more noticeable at speeds. Does not seem to be from the brakes. Any tips?

Warranty expired last month.

Thanks in advance

Ricochet off the Moon

Play on words, but basically I went on a 15-mile ride this afternoon all by me onesies, and went to the "Moon," a local shale-covered mountaintop clearing near where we live in PA. This kind of ground is what our trails are covered with.

Yesterday, I installed my Ricochet 7-piece armor kit and took it out for the first time today. No wonder my stock plastics were so beat up! The clinking and clanging of the rocks smacking off the armor was noticeable the entire trip. What an investment to protect the underside of the Rancher. By the way, NO modifications required for the 2015 Rancher, zero, no trimming, and that’s with a Superwinch Terra 35 installed prior to the armor install. Now that’s what I was looking for.

The other pictures are from the mountainside among the laurel and huge boulders for which PA mountains are noted. Enjoy!

Can You Bypass the O2 Sensor On Stock ATV Rancher?

I have two(2) 2014 Honda Rancher 420s (new body style) SRA, DCT, ES and they both have the same problems. They keep for lack of a better word, Blowing the O2 sensors.
First one after a week or two of owning it started flashing a code 23. Took it back to Honda Dealer they replaced O2 all is well. Week later the second ATV starts flashing code 23, took back to dealer, they replaced O2 sensor all is well.
To make this short we are now roughly 15 months into owning these two ATVs and are now working on the third O2 sensor for both of them.
The dealer is working with us in that it has not cost us out of pocket yet, however; this is getting old. We have all this money wrapped up in ATVs and can’t ride them because they keep breaking down. Not to mention back and forth trips to dealer an hour away. Oh and did I mention they only have about 100 miles on each one. If you do the math that is 33 1/3 miles per O2 sensor.
They say they have contacted HONDA factory over the problem but they do not know what is going on as of yet.
These are some of the questions Honda Factory wanted answer for:
1) How do I wash the ATVs? I told them by hand
2) What type fuel am I using? Regular unleaded form Shell.
3) What type of riding do I do? Mostly trail, riding little bit of mud.
4) Do I use ATVs for short rides like to mail box and back? No, but why should that matter.

So I guess the question I have is, has anyone else run into this problem and if so what was the solution?

rancher es will not shift with thumb buttons

my friend has a 2003 or 2004 Honda rancher es 350, and he says that the other day it decided it didn’t want to shift using the thumb buttons. it will shift when you connect the emergency shifter to the side of the case, though. his battery seems to have a good charge, so I’m thinking the shift motor might be bad. he has another one on a different 4 wheeler that I could try, once I remove the one in question. if I’m going to take it off the front of the motor, I thought I might as well remove the gear cover behind it, clean it, and add new grease. my question is, before I remove this gear cover behind the shift motor, is there anything I need to know? will the gears fall out, and it be very difficult to get them back in place? or am I completely barking up the wrong tree? any info would be appreciated.

06 Honda rancher 350 ticking

About a month ago my rancher was having some problems starting, the solenoid would always be ticking everytime i pushed the button but I messed around with the starter cable and it would start 1 every 10 try’s, so I decided to get a new starter so It worked fine I rode the bike for a little the when I was taking my bike off of the trailer in reverse it died out, ever since it would still make the ticking sound so I bought a new solenoid thinking that would fix the problem but apparently not. My hands are tied and help yall can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
