Hello everyone. I’m a noob and need to ask a question. First time owning a 400 AT Rancher. Need to change the oil. I used to have a Rancher 350 that had an oil filter that had to be put in a certain way. But, on the oil filter I purchased for the 400 I just bought, it says nothing about which way the filter goes and I have found no information on it. The machine itself didn’t have the manual with it when I bought it either. The openings on both sides of this filter are the same size as well. Is there a wrong way to put this filter in? Or is either way ok? Just dropped some cash on this machine and it runs perfect and don’t want to mess it up. Thanks for any help!
I’m looking to do some upgrading on my 2015 420 as far as power goes. Does anyone have any experience on this? Price kinda matters as far as the parts go. I know about exhaust and programmers.
Just curious. The other day I changed my oil to the Honda synthetic and noticed an immediate improvement in the shifting on my 2008 ES machine with a little over 200 easy miles on it. I was going to do the white lithium grease switch but got lazy. Today, I took it down the driveway to get the mail and it was shifting even better. Smooth and quiet like it should shift. On the way back up the old shifting gremlin reared its ugly head again. It would not shift into second and there was no noise indicating that it was even trying to shift. If I stopped, it would shift through all the gears just fine. Finally got it to shift into second by taking off like I was in a drag race and it worked fine after that. I was thinking maybe a low battery condition even though I keep a battery tender on it. I know I need to do a proper load test, but….. With nothing turned on the battery reads 13.3v, with the key on it reads 12.6v, while cranking the starter it reads 11.2v, at idle it reads 14.1v, rev it a little and it hits 14.2v and with the lights on at idle it reads 13.7v. The 14+ volts seems a bit high to me with all the sensitive electronics on these bikes. Probably just over thinkin this…….

I just purchased a new 2015 rancher 420.
When the handle bars are straight ahead, the atv drives to the right.
How can I adjust this so the handle bars are in alignment with the wheels?

I got a 2006 honda rancher 350 2×4. Use it for work, an everything. Even raced this morning. But I was noticing that it had the mounts and everything for the front gearbox for 4×4. Just curious if anyone has heard of someone converting one over? To me it seems ridiculous, would prolly cost as much as just buying a 4×4.
Feeling really stupid… Took my shift motor apart (2008) and now can’t figure out how to put the darn thing back together with the spring loaded brushes. What’s the trick??
What are the first mods I should look into? I’m taking it out to the country in a few weeks so I’d like to get everything done in the next couple of weeks.
My 2008 Rancher (SRA) foot shift model was stolen a few weeks ago. I had 27" Maxxis Zillas on ITP SS212 wheels, snorkel, homemade stereo, Power Commander III, HMF Utility Exhaust, Highlifter Front Bash Plate, Moose Neoprene Seat Cover, Warn XT 25 Winch, Uni air filter and Moose Rear Trunk.
I mostly want to setup the new one similarly, but have been out of the game for a while. I’m a little lost since I went automatic and rear IRS this round as well. I ordered the factory winch, a-arm guards and skid plate. I’m not sure if I can fit the 27" tires on the new one with the rear IRS. Also, is the Power Commander V (w/ Autotune) and a new exhaust worth it or is there another tuner that is worth looking at? Is there a gear reduction out that I can install?
I’ve been reading up a lot, but still don’t know if I have everything figured out. While I loved my HMF exhaust on my last bike, I’m not as concerned with noise this time around as I am performance. I do remember there being an issue with the stock exhaust going under water.
