NY snow is soon to start (74 degrees today though!) and I’m looking at a plow.
Spoke to the boys at kolpin / cycle country and I am considering the high rise mid mount plow for my rancher 420es. Seems quite new so I’m hesitant. Has anyone had any experience with the new system? It uses the cycle country mid mount with the high rise push tubes and the kolpin high rise 52" plow. The cost shipped is 590 which is 150 more than warn 54 pro vantage setup I was about buy when I found it too (as is kolpin) made in China.
I know may will say go front mount but that ain’t going to happen. Sorry
My Rancher’s battery keeps going dead on me and unfortunately it doesn’t have a PULL START and I’m worried that I will get out by myself one day and not be able to start it back up! I have added a WARN winch, BOSS Speakers, and a LED Light Bar, but nothing else has been added to the Rancher… Would any of those be drawing power from the battery while it sits in the shop?
I bought a 2004 Rancher AT for my teenager son. The machine only has 500Miles, but needed some love. It needed front CV Boots (because of a 2 inch lift), ended up replacing one of the axles because the CV cup was badly warn and couldn’t get the clip out of it. It also needed front and rear brakes, no big deal. The rears were very difficult to get apart, but we eventually got it.
Once we got the brakes and front axles back into it we drove it around the yard and all seemed to be good, but before taking it out for a long ride I wanted to replace the engine oil and also do the differentials. This too, was no big deal as I have a older Forman 450 and the procedure was the same.
I only use honda oil in my machines, but now after the oil change we have noticed what I guess is the transmission slipping. It will click under load and not go anywhere. It is worse in AT mode, but will also slip while in ESP mode.
I have read all the forums on the transmission slipping problems and it seems that for most people the slipping happens when the engine is hot, but in our case it slips the most when the engine is COLD. When the engine gets hot it slips much less.
Is this the typical Rancher 400 AT transmission problem?
The crazy thing is we didn’t notice this problem before the oil change. I used normal honda oil, should I switch to "winter" oil as it seems to get better when the oil is hot (thins out).
Looking for advice, is it the clutch, angle sensor, or ECM?
Why is it worse when cold? Could it be the oil pump?
Having bought this used, I don’t know if the ECM recall has been done, is there any what I can tell?
I just raced the ironman gncc yesterday on my 01 350 rancher and it actually did pretty good.. Got 6th. My question is I need to upgrade the suspension and Id like to know if anybody has went with any aftermarket shocks and if so how were they? Looking to buy some just want some advice before spending that kind of money
Question guys I have a Honda Rancher es 350 it ran out of gas so I filled it back up came back out the next day it was leaking gas all over the bottom of the building I took the air cleaner box off and the box is full of gas any idea how it would get in there
The days are getting colder and it is time for me to get ready for winter riding. I already have heated grips and throttle (which I love) for my Rancher 420. I am now thinking of finishing off the package with a heated seat pad. I am looking at the thin heated pad that goes under the seat vinyl (looks like Moose and Heat Demon makes them), and not the heated seat cover that goes over the entire seat.
I just wanted to see if anyone with a 420 has one on their seat. The heat pad seems to be a bit too wide for the top of the seat, so I would like to know how well it fits, such as how flexible the pad is and can some of the pad be bent over to the side of the seat.
Anybody have a clue what’s going on ? Rancher 420 2015 electronic shift problems ? It shifts into gears but in first gear it will slip on load . In reverse it’s fine on load in second gear it’s fine on load it will spin the tires good in reverse or second gear . Just in first gear it slips won’t even drive on trailer !! In second gear it will pull strong so it can’t be a clutch problem it has to be something else anyone have a clue what’s going on ? Is there a solenoid that just works 1st gear that might be shot or something ? The other gears work perfectly fine just slipping bad in first gear it’s CRAZY !!! Please anyone have a clue ? THANKS for your time and any experience with the electronic shift problems slipping
Hey I got a rancher that I’m working at fixing the leaking carb. I bought a new float needle an needle seat. But I can’t get the old needle seat out. Is it suppose to come straight out or some special technique to it??

Hello, I recently bought a 07 Honda rancher 420 4×4 and I noticed there is a rattling sound whenever it revs up. I’m assuming that It is the valves and not the timing change. Iv never done any moter work before and was wondering if there is any tips or tricks I should know before tacking this new project. From what I heard it is not hard to do. Any help y’all can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
