Hopefully someone has some insight to a possible problem I have been having.
Bought a 2014 Rancher 4×4 footshift this summer new from the dealer. I don’t ride a ton, so I have only put about 20 some odd hours on it since I bought it end of August. The issue I am having is starting the ATV after it has been sitting outside overnight the past couple of times. It has only gotten down to maybe low 30’s, and when I go to start it in the morning it takes 3 tries pressing the starter button before it fires up. Being fuel injected I would think it would start up easier, but maybe this is just how the machine is. Since I bought it I have replaced the engine oil and filter and changed the spark plug. For oil I am using AMSoil 0w-40. Battery was tested at the local auto store and they said it was good. I also have it on a trickle charger when not in use. I am a bit concerned that if it is having trouble starting now, it will be even tougher to start in the dead of winter. It is still under warranty so I will probably call dealer and see if they will look at it, but I wanted to get some opinions on here before I do that.
Hello all,
I’m new to ATVs and this forum, but the wife just bought me an ’05 Rancher 350 FM. I love it so far. Any suggestions on must-have accessories or easily avoidable issues would be welcome! Thanks!
Got an 07 Rancher, been having a few issues with but it ran, than the other day it died, no spark, battery is good, swapped starter solenoid, checking coil with multi meter now, at 200k ohm range getting 18. that’s tab to spark plug connector, only at the 200 range am I getting a reading from tab to tab, not sure if coil is bad, but I also noticed a buzz noise when trying to start it come from a part with a wiring harness plugged into it and when I unplug this the temporary buzz goes away. otherwise when trying to start I get a click and buzz, no spark. before this it was starting harder lately. any help would be appreciated.
I have a 2005 rancher 350FM 4×4 and I have stock steel rims. currently running 24x8x12fronts and 24x9x11 rears. thinking of going up in tire size to 25x8x12 and 25x10x11rears. or maybe even 25x9x12fronts. I’ve heard some KENDA reviews where people have had trouble with the kenda’s sizes running small compared to other tires. and can be hard to get seated on the rim or even being smaller by one full size compared to other brands of the same labeled size. has anyone experienced this? and has anyone ran 25x9x12’s on the front stock steel rims of a rancher 350 of similar year? I’m curious if 25×9’s would fit good on the factory rims. without looking freakish or rubbing.
Hey whats up all! Not new to bikes at all, just got an 07′ Rancher 4X4 manual everything, manual engaged 4X4, manual foot shift, NO digital anything in the middle of the bars which is exactly what I wanted…less stuff to go wrong. This machine is in incredible shape. Very clean. I have been searching for a while now and I understand that there are a few key things I should invest in/ keep an eye on right off the bat:
*CV axle protectors
*Skid plates
*Synthetic oils? (never ran anything synthetic besides Honda HP2 premix in my 2 smokers)
*Rear axle? (please explain what I need to do, any aftermarket parts that increase durability? Bearings, Seals etc)
I’m not interested in more power, this things has tons of power compared to my 2001 Recon haha. The Recon has been the most durable, reliable, stress free, money free machine I have ever owned. Its been down the Dalton HWY from Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks and back, all over the Rocky Mtns and has helped me get several big game animals out of the woods.
I’m looking for the same reliability that my Recon has, so lead me in the right direction.
It does have the upgraded fuel filter..according to the previous owner.
The right front bearing is toast I believe. I propped it up on some wooden blocks and took the front wheels off to inspect the brakes and CV axles and noticed the right front hub has play in it, pretty sure its the wheel bearing. Are those pretty straight forward to replace? Or do I have to remove the whole hub and press the bearing out and press new one in? On the recon, I can just use a ball peen hammer and a socket and do it that way with the hub in place.
I have a 09 rancher fm that I have babied and taken care of. All of a sudden it has started idling high. When I put it in gear it lurches forward, any ideas? Deer season is 6 days away. I need to fix this issue. Thanks!
I’m working on this rancher and not sure what to replace, the speedo/odo doesn’t work, while riding it’ll get stuck in a gear so you have to turn off/on to shift again, other than that it runs and shifts perfect.
Angle sensor tested good, speed sensor tested good (0-5v @pink wire), pink wire to meter and ECU tested good, swapped ECU and still the same, power and ground tested meter was good. Only thing I’ve found is black/blue wire at speed plug and at meter plug only have 0.881v instead of 12v. That wire only runs to 3 pin and meter 14 pin, so clueless what else to check. Also serviced the es gears.
So can the meter be bad causing the shift and display problem?
ok well I had the shop look at it and the Trani has to be rebuilt, thinking just sell it for parts with plow, any takers in the Stamford, CT area, make me an offer, any one in the Stamford, Ct area got one to sell?

I have a 07 Honda rancher 420 4×4 and was wondering if there are any lift kits or any fabrications that can be made to have more of the usual 2" lift. Iv seen some 420s lifted pretty high on 30" tires. Any help y’all can provide would be appreciated.
NY snow is soon to start (74 degrees today though!) and I’m looking at a plow.
Spoke to the boys at kolpin / cycle country and I am considering the high rise mid mount plow for my rancher 420es. Seems quite new so I’m hesitant. Has anyone had any experience with the new system? It uses the cycle country mid mount with the high rise push tubes and the kolpin high rise 52" plow. The cost shipped is 590 which is 150 more than warn 54 pro vantage setup I was about buy when I found it too (as is kolpin) made in China.
I know may will say go front mount but that ain’t going to happen. Sorry
