New Tires

So I have been looking around for new tires for my 2009 grizzly for awhile. I really like the intercom swamp lites and I feel they would do well for what I do. I mostly trail ride but I do like to take a weekend every once in awhile and hit some mud. I am asking for advice on what size of tire to get. 26s? 27s?

Low gear speed.

Will the rev limiter kick in before you could damage your grizz in low gear? At what rpm will the limiter kick in? What would be a top speed for a 700 stock machine in low?

Clicking Kodiak is driving me crazy!!!

My 2004 Kodiak 450 developed a clicking in the rear and I can’t find it to save my life! Here is what I know:

The sound is a high pitched click that sounds a lot like a bad CV joint but It’s an SRA so no CV joints.

It happens when starting off and sometimes when doing donuts. It stops once the bike is moving (unless doing donuts and even then rarely) and does not happen until stopped again. It occasionally (but rarely) happens with the engine off by sitting on the bike or grabbing it and scooting it to the side.

I’m about 95% sure the sound is coming from the left wheel.

I can duplicate the clicking by putting the bike in park, grabbing the left side wheel and rolling it back and forth hard. I have not been able to duplicate it by doing this with the right side wheel.

I pulled the left side apart, replaced the brake pads and checked everything and could not find anything obvious. After I put it back together it is a LOT harder to make it click by rocking the wheel.

There is no play in the bearings, no squeaking, grinding or any other indications that the bearings are bad.

synthetic rope on LT3000 winch

Aloha Guy’s, I am very new to all of this stuff so please excuse my stupid question’s, but why would it not be good to replace the wire rope on a super winch LT2500 or 3000 with synthetic rope? I called super winch today and the guy told me that you shouldn’t do that?? But he did not explain why. I have a grizzly 450 and want to get a winch for it and would like to have synthetic rope but am not sure if I need to spend the extra $$ for a terra. I don’t expect to be using the winch a lot. Thanks for the help.

Grizzly 450 EPS fuel range

We got a 2014 Grizzly 450 EPS for my wife to ride, and took it out on its first trail ride today. We rode REALLY slow since it was the first time my wife had ridden an ATV in a while and I was carrying our daughter for the first time on my machine. We rode 29 miles, and it used maybe 1/8 of a tank of fuel on the gauge. Like I said it was really slow (15 probably, maybe 20 mph at times) and very flat. I haven’t got a chance to refill it and compute the mileage, but its nearly useless since it was so slow and flat.

We are heading to Utah on an ATV trip in a month, and I am wondering what other 450 owners get for mileage when riding them in their particular conditions? The carburetor plus the 4.0 gallon tank worry me. My machine has a 5.7 gallon tank and EFI ( a 2014 Arctic Cat 500 ) and I have 80 miles on the tank and its just under half on the gauge. Computing my mileage will be slightly more useful because the first 45 miles on the tank I rode rough terrain, got on the gas good and enjoyed the machine as it was supposed to be!!

I am looking into Rotopax for one or both machines, but don’t know what I need. Here in Minnesota I don’t worry too much about the extra fuel, but trips like our Utah trip make me feel more secure since her fuel tank is so small. I would appreciate any input!!

Custom CV Boot Protectors

Hey all, finally decided to become a member, so that i could add to the HOW TO’s.

After tearing my CV boot in the rear, i wanted to put on some better protectors on my Grizzly 700 (2014). Didn’t want to spend the money, so i decided to make my own. Couldn’t find any dimensions or guidelines on how to do so, So…. I made one up after completing a pair for the rear.

Feel free to add or correct or criticize, I’ve never done any HOW TO’s, so if information is vague, i just didn’t know…. lol

Let me know what yall think
