I almost hate to post this a most will laugh at me for buying a new 2014 550 Grizzly instead of a new Kodiak. I have rode Honda atvs for many years and they have been very reliable. I run in the Arizona desert and since I am older now I do not need extreme power. I still have my 2005 Honda Rubicon with 6k miles on it but at my age I needed to get IRS to save my back and I needed to get power steering for a small shoulder problem I have. If my Honda had those item I would not have bought a new atv. I looked at several used atvs with power steering and irs but they were within $1000 of what I paid for this 550. Most of the other atvs I looked at with power steering were getting to be $10k or more out the door. I bought this new 550 for $6400. I just got my street legal license today and started driving it around to get it broken in. I am happy with it so far but I have noticed that in only 30 miles the gas tank it down to about 1/4 on the gauge. Maybe the dealer did not have it completely full and once broken in it will improve. I could ride my old Honda Rubicon over 100 miles on a smaller tank. Some of my rides are around 100 miles in a day so I am hoping for at least this mpg so I do not have to carry extra gas. I hope this thing is as reliable as my Honda is. Other than oil changes etc. I have done absolutely nothing, even the battery is original from 2005.
I’m new to ATVs and am looking to purchase a new 2014 Grizzly 450. The dealership has one listed at the MSRP of $6,399. I’m wondering how the past year models that don’t sell depreciate in price. I’m trying to figure out what a good price to offer would be. I can’t see paying MSRP on a 2 year old ATV. Thanks.
New to 4 wheelers. Rode 4 wheeler around, after I stored in garage. It made whole house smell of gas. I went and checked it and it was leaking from a line on the left side where the oil stick was. I turned the gas from on to off and that stopped the leak.
However, I have never turned the gas off before and it never leaked. I looked around and it looked like that line in addition to another line which looked like a breather hose possibly were left hanging in a clip not plugged into anything. I looked around, but it does not appear to plug in anywhere. All though they can plug into each other.
Is that just a overflow line from the carb ? If so why did it leak gas last night and never before? I am new to all this if you can’t tell. Picture is below
Hi everyone. Very new to this site so I apologize if this isn’t the correct spot for this. I was thinking of purchasing a new yamaha after previously owning a suzuki and polaris. I went to the dealer thinking I wanted the new Kodiak 700 eps for 8k…They then told me they had a left over 2014 grizzly 700 eps that they would sell for the same price…Now I am not so sure and was hoping for some others opinions on the matter. Is a 14 grizzly better then a 16 kodiak?
I plan to use this for hauling lots of wood, plowing deep snow, and enjoying lots of trails in the woods.

Which fuel do you run in your grizzly? I am fortunate enough to run chevron 94 octane no ethanol and do you guys put fuel stabilizer in it when not using over the winter months? Thanks
Hello all, my name is Rob and hail from Montana. I just brought home a new Grizzly. I started back in 2004 with a Prairie 700, fun quad with brutal suspension. When Kawi finally upgraded the Brute’s suspension I bought a 2012, still not a plush ride but I loved that machine. Then last December I decided to try the Polaris 1000XP. I hated it from day one. Sure it’s fast, doesn’t feel fast though from the seat of the pants meter. Nice ride but just didn’t like it on the trails I ride. Then of course the exhaust melting plastics started so I sold it at a huge loss and yet still felt great that it was finally gone. I have riding a lot of miles on my friends Grizzly’s and always like them. Thought about another Brute but the one thing I hated was the tranny whine. I chose the Grizzly, like the ride, the transmission, diff lock and love the looks and color of the SE. I will be getting stiffer foam for the seat but no big deal. I only have one concern, I took it out for a few short bursts and it stumbles real hard off idle when getting into the throttle from idle. It recovers quickly and has a great mid range punch. I’ve done a number of searches and can’t find much on a 2016 of coarse. It does run a little lean as most all do these days, pops slightly on decel. I’m not sure if the stumble is a lean condition of not? I’ve read a bit on the pod mod, not sure if this is still functional on new machines as what I read were all older 700’s. Any ideas welcomed. Would like to get it right. If not it’s not a deal breaker. I got it for trial riding not drag racing but it sure would be nice to get the full potential of the snappy new mill. Nice machine. Thanks, Rob.
I just recently bought a 2016 grizzly 700 EPS. had a 2013 polaris scrambler 850xp prior to this.
Build quality on the yamaha is much much better compared to the polaris. Had alot of issues with the POPO that were just unacceptable.
I like the clutching and AWD system on the popo compared to the yamaha.
The ride of the grizzly is much nicer than the polaris. Plusher, and more comfortable seating position. My scrambler seemed to corner a little better at high speed, but i think i can fix that with some suspension adjustments.
Grizzly is much more nimbler. The weight of the polaris was very noticeable.
