Sheave Modification

There is a guy local to me advertising this:

Yamaha Grizzly – Sheave Modification – $450
Yamaha Grizzly – Sheave Modification

I am not physically able to do this myself, so before I have this guy do this I thought I’d ask which of you have done the same and if it does everything he is claiming. What interests me is the lower rpm at cruising speeds, since I do a fair amount of cruising @ 30 mph on gravel roads. I’ve always felt my 450 runs too high of rpm when doing that sort of riding. I still want smooth takeoffs like stock, and am not looking for higher launch rpm, so I’ll keep my weights stock. And what about long term reliability of the Dr Pulley greaseless sliders?

2012 Grizzly 700 problems

over a year ago I blew up my clutches in my bike and burnt the wet clutch. after replacing everything in the belt box it ran and drove fine for a few months then sat up after I bought my buggy. now when I pull it out to sell the dang thing wont drive! it runs fine but I have to give it almost half throttle just for it to move. when it finally gets going it drives fine until I let off the gas then it just stops all at once and it sounds like the clutches lock up all together. I tore it down yesterday and took the cam plate off and found some of the weights out of place after putting them back I started the bike and put it in gear only for it to act the same way. it has a loud screeching/grinding noise from the wet clutch area in high at idle. any ideas on what my problem could be?

New TOY!!!! 2007 Grizzly 450 pretty sure no spark.

Ok guys so i got a grizzly 450 in a trade, the previous owner said it died in a mud hole. The fourwheeler was definitely covered in some serious mud, I got it super clean. The motor spins over beautifully and sounds like it has plenty of compression. I took the spark plug out, it looked pretty worn out so i wire brushed it and sand papered it. Still no go, so i spray the intake with a bit of brake parts cleaner, still didnt get a hit. Where do you guys think i should go first any common problems?

Which Grizzly to keep!

Bought a 2007 Grizzly 700se eps with 3000km on it for $5100. Been a challenge with it…electrical issues – got some help on here and at the end of the day it ended up being the battery. During the time of troubleshooting etc another 2009 Grizzly came on kijiji for sale – went and looked at it and got it for $4200 with only 2000 km (so I thought, found out today they had it on miles so more like 3400km). The 09 was a little dirty, etc but seemed like a good deal. Get it home and find out there is a mouse nest in the airbox that has been there for quite awhile. Rust pits on the metal element in the airbox and lots of crap in there…the nest was mounded right up filling the airbox almost. Got that all cleaned up and she runs really good now. There seems to be a little tick in the engine when you are climing…kind of like a vehicle with the timing slightly out. The reason we bought the 09 is that after reading on here about the 07 and 08 stator problem we thought we would get rid of it. I would rather keep the 09, but I am concerned that the mouse nest could have caused issues with the motor if crap got in…

I guess the way it is designed it is pretty hard for anything to get in the intake, but man it was a mess!

The 07 has a two brothers pipe, love the sound and it looks like it is a different part number for the 09 so probably can’t swap it over. The 09 has sat outside more, as there is surface rust on the frame and shocks etc in spots. Overall the 07 is a cleaner bike.

Wondered what your thoughts are?

Fuel issue

Help!
I have a 2000 griz 600, I had gas running out the overflow tube so I put a kit in the carb and reinstalled it. Now the bike fires right up and runs good at idle but Boggs at mid range and seems to have fuel blowing out of the carb to the air box side. If I hook up the air box it won’t rev at all it just wants to die. I set the main needle where the old one was, confused?
