Front differential making noise.

Last night when I had my grizz on her ass, installing my ricochets, I spun the front tires and found something a little odd.

From my understanding, if I spin one side, the other side should spin in the opposite directing, at least my friend’s king quad does.

Not only does only one spin at a time, the right one makes a slight clunking noise in the diff when I spin it, and it also has slightly more drag on it.

I’m assuming it’s something to do with the front end coming down from a wheelie and my 10" wide tires.

Anyone have any insight?

Is my dynatek programmable?

I have a Dynatek Fs Ignition module I’ve had on for a while and I’m wondering is it programmable?
I just looked on Dynatek and they have a module that connects to the ignition modules for programming timing curves on a laptop.

Yes I’ve searched online and was unable to find a clear answer.

Thanks in advance

06 Grizzly 660 burning excessive oil

Hello everyone, I’ve been helping a family member get their Grizzly 660 back into proper working order. I’ll start by saying it’s been used on a farm and operated daily. It currently has 3500 miles and 1150 hours!, lots of idle time…not good. At first, the clutch was slipping and there was a substantial amount of oil in the coolant. I replaced the one-way bearing, clutch blocks, and rebuilt the entire water pump. "warped bearings and broken impeller shaft" Now that I’ve gotten those gremlins taken care of, the machine is burning quite a bit of oil now. It wasn’t before, it doesn’t smoke, but only on rare occasion and never overheats. So, is it time for a head gasket and possibly rings? Am I missing something. I know all of this comes from lack of maintenance, but I’m trying to get everything fixed. Any help would be appreciated.

What brand of gear oil are you using???

What brand of gear oil are you all using?? I know it should be GL-4 rated. Any synthetic use? After hearing about a 2014 Grizz 700 without rear final drive lube, I decided to drain my gear boxes. I went with Lucas Synthetic 75/90. The old stuff looked much different than what went in. I was relieved to find that there was lube in both gear boxes but some fine shiny metal came out.

Valve clearance check/adjustment

Who has their dealer check their valve clearance at the intervals recommended in the owner’s manual? I am just wondering if I really need to have this done? I like to do my own fluid changes and will not take my Grizzly 550 to the dealer for any maintenance with the possible exception of this if I really need to have it done. Thanks for any opinions/info.

Tranny Slipping

Well I have to admit it, I just bought a ’05 660 Grizzly off craigslist and I test drove it around a bit but when I got it home I was pulling it around my house and I was turning to run over my extension ladder which is like 6" tall and when tires hit it, it just stopped and you give it gas and you just hear the tranny spinning. I assume the clutch is gone in it. I can’t believe I didn’t catch it driving it around. Weird, oh well my loss. Can someone point me in the right direction to start trouble shooting. Thanks.

Factory Mistakes

I bought a new Grizzly 700 EPS a few months ago. Just finished 200 miles and started on first service. I went to change the rear diff. oil and found out that the differential had never been filled at the factory.

My question has anybody else seen a problem like this on a new Grizzly?

The ATV is currently at the dealers in UT undergoing evaluation.

I have owned Polaris, Can Am and Arctic Cat. Never seen anything like this!! I was wondering if this anomaly is a one off or has any one else seen a QC mistake like this from Yamaha?

4×4 problems

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a 2009 Yamaha Grizzly 700. The other day I put it into 4×4 and went through something pretty easy, nothing bad. Get out to the other side and hit the button to disengage 4×4 and it won’t go away on the display screen. I also do not hear the motor disengaging or engaging it when I hit the button. I’ve checked the fuse and it seems to be good. Any other suggestions? Possible relay or actuator problem?
