16 kodiack help with cvt shim

Hey guys brand new here so if I’m posting in the wrong place let me know. I will try not make this long winded. Got 16 kodiack se love it so far as you probably know if you have read up on the grizz and the kodiack the kodiack is set up a little softer in the power department. It does up shift very quick so the revs stay down I don’t mind this but would like a little more punch below 10 mph in high. If you are below 5mph it almost seems to struggle to stay engaged just want to lessen the times I need to drop it in low. I assume from the little bit of research I have done a shim would be the way to go at this point and cost effective. I plan on putting bear claw htr on in stock 25 inch size. Would shim be the way to go and would I notice 1mm with stock sized htrs. I don’t want to go too extreme because I am not running huge tires. I am new to messing with a cvt. I would consider machining down the road also just kind of looking for a quick fix for now thanks. Great site guys!!

Grizzly 700 top speed is SLOW!?!?!??

I have a 2007 Yamaha Grizzly 700. I have had about 10 different 700’s and 550’s and 660’s so i know what to expect and all have had a top speed on asphalt 63-66mph depending on tire/wheel size, weight, etc.

ALL of them have ripped 63mph pretty darn easy and got there pretty quickly.

My current 700 only has 1500 miles but it tops out at 56-57mph and takes a LONG time to get there-I have to hold it open for almost a mile to get to 56mph. it takes a long time to gain speed after 40-45mph.

I took apart clutch today and cleaned it out good, weights were perfectly round and grease was in good shape. The belt was completely chewed up and I found a piece of stone floating around in there (I assume the piece of stone came in the vent tube or something and chewed up the belt and pitted the primary sheave. I cleaned out the grease, replaced it, roughed up the primary with some sand paper and replaced belt with a new one and my top speed didn’t change at all..

It has good power, wheelies pretty easy and FEELS strong but my brothers 550cc is faster from a stop, from a roll, and at top speed and he is 100% stock and has 28” big horns on 14” wheels (very heavy setup). I have 27” zillas but top speed was the same when I had the stock wheels/tires on too.

my father in laws also KILLS me in a race he is also a stock grizzly 700 and we raced with both having stock tires.

I can’t figure it out but i KNOW something is wrong.…..

2016 grizzly needed

I need a 16, 700 to do fuel controller testing and air etc, may also need for exhaust testing.

if you can be without yours for a day or 2 and want a free efi/lid let me know if I can have it for at least a week I can probably throw in a exhaust (if the older ones don’t fit and I have to make a new for the 16)

Buying my first Grizzly… maybe??

I am looking into buying my first Grizzly. I have talked to an individual that has one on the market. He said that the high gear will need to be rebuilt. It runs and goes in low gear, but it will not move in high. As I am not very familiar with the Grizzly, how much would this cost at a dealership and/or is it something I could do myself? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
