Wet clutch

What is the proper way To install a wet clutch on a 2012 700? How does a person hold it to torque it? Can you simply just tighten the left hand thread and it will not move? should red loc tite be used? How much torque is needed on the wet clutch nut?

Just bought a 2011 700 issue starting.

Just bought a new toy, the previous owner moved the battery from under the hood to the rear seat. Ive searched for days and cant find anyone with my issue. Ive replaced the starter relay and that’s not the issue, the relay buzzes occasionally but most of the time I can get it to crank, I have good spark and fuel but it wont fire up, and if it does it will idle for a few minutes then die and wont start back up. When I do crank, the Pod seems to reset like if I were to turn the key off and turn it back on im thinking that’s my problem. Should I start by searching grounds and re grounding everything? It has a HMF swamp exhaust with a Power Commander 5. Battery is new as well

Griz 700 – TDC on on rotor and sprocket don’t match

My bike was running great. Flipped it in a water hole (for maybe the 15th time). Drained it, cranked it and it ran fine. Later in the evening I shut her off. Cranked her up about 10 minutes later…Pouring smoke…So, rings are shot. Keep in mind, it still cranks at the bump of the starter, but pours smoke.
Time for the tear down. As part of pulling the head, you have to set the engine at TDC. I pull the cap off the magneto cover as well as the cover to the camshaft sprocket. I align the "I" mark on the rotor with the pointer on the magneto cover (as the manual says). I also verified that the piston was at TDC on the compression stroke by placing a screwdriver in the spark plug hole while my buddy rotated the crankshaft.
Now the odd part – The odd part is that the TDC mark on the camshaft sprocket didn’t line up with the indicator on the head. It looks to be about a tooth off (see picture). My questions are as follows:
1.) When the rotor shows TDC, should the camshaft sprocket be dead on with it?
2.) If the camshaft sprocket was off by a tooth, whouldnt my bike run badly? (it runs flawlessly as is…minus the smoke)
3.) When I reassemble the top end, should I align the marks on the camshaft sprocket, or try to reproduce where it is now?
4.) Do I need a new chain/tensioniors?

Grizzly gear selector issues

Hello, new here and I found this site due to issues my son is having with his 2002 Yamaha Grizzly 660.

He just bought it from someone about a week ago and we have fixed some issues and it seems new ones pop up.

The current issue which happened today is the gear selector for P,N,R, etc.. was hard to shift. Then when we shifted into N, it still showed R and was actually in R, when we shifted to P, it still showed it was in R and it was in R. We went through the gears, sometimes it was fine, sometimes no matter the gear we put it in it would stay in R and even N sometimes.

We shut it down, started it right back up and it worked fine.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

As a side note: We weren’t out riding it, it was in the backyard on the porch and we were finishing up working on one thing when this reared it’s ugly head.

Thanks

Grizzly refuses to start! Please help

I have a 2005 grizzly 660. Was riding it last month and it became really boggy so one I got it home I noticed the carb boot that goes from engine to carb had a large tear in it. So I ordered a new one and put it on and now it won’t start. Just put a new plug in it as well and it still won’t start. It has spark, gas, and all the air filter and hoses are hooked up. Once in awhile it’ll backfire when I try to start but that’s it. Any ideas? Would really like to get her going! Been sitting too long for my liking

Final drive getting hot

So today I did my break in service on my 2015 grizzly 700. Changed motor oil, front diff and final drive. Filled final drive as the manual stated. Fill through the fill plug with check plug out. Waited until oil began coming out check plug. I took it for a ride and upon returning to the house I noticed that the final drive seemed hot. I never noticed it before but it may have been because I was checking over everything today since I just changed the fluids. It was a 16 mile drive total with various speeds. I did some searching online and found that it seems common but wanted some other input.
