After looking closely at the chassis I noticed some places were I did not really want water, mud, sand & gravel to have a chance to build up and stand, rusting my frame away so here is what I did. starting up front I sprayed some of the expanding foam in the ends of the bumper, not a lot just enough to cap the tube off. (I did not block the small drain hole in the bumper just wanted to keep out the big stuff.)
Next i put two bolts in the front frame were the winch plate would fasten with silicone on the threads to seal out water. Later when I install my winch I will reinstall the bolts with silicone again. These two holes run all the way through to the rear were they will also be plugged later in this post.
Now I went to the back and dropped the back skid plate to get to the next part of the frame. You will find 4 holes, two are right behind the rear diff.
and one on each side by the back wheel.
The holes by the diff. are 1 1/8" and the holes by the back wheels are 7/8". I bought these plugs at a auto store to seal the holes.
After going through the mud / water and what ever there is no way when your wheeler is sitting flat water will leave the frame, this even goes for when you wash it, so that is what these plugs are all about. I think these few things I have done will surely help. Thanks for looking
Just replaced a front wheel bearing and seal set on the 450 Grizz yesterday.
Because the 450 has the split bearings and seals on the front like older 660’s. I thought I would post a couple pictures of the knuckle and the bearing and seals.
Here is the knuckle notice the boss/stop cast and machined in the knuckle this to index the location of the bearings. This is the reason the bearings can not be pressed out. You must use a puller or as I did use a small chisel to drive them out.
Do not take this type knuckle to some knucklehead in an automotive machine shop. Can almost grantee that they will destroy the knuckle.
Here is the knuckle with me holding the spacer inside. The exact function of the spacer is up for debate. It appears that it spaces the inner bearing races as the outer races are spaced by the boss.
Here is a bearing a seal and the spacer to show the difference in size especially the size of the spacer.
Use plenty of lithium grease and don’t forget O-ring on the axle.
Also don’t discover after you have the axle nut tight the ball joints tight and tie rod tight that you forgot the plastic guard over the cvjoint like I did.

Seen some deals on ebay for all four shocks on ebay. Wondering if anyone has tried these out yet? I’m pretty pleased with the power and tires so far. I just know after riding 450 sport quads most of my life how much better this quad could ride and handle with a decent set of shocks.
Hi guys. I finally pulled the trigger on a set of tracks but them came with can am mounts. My question is will the mount kit from the longer a arm 2014 grizzly work on my 2008 grizzly? I dont mind modifying the brackets a little bit cause it will save me 400 bucks if i can make the 2014 grizzly mount work. Thanks all
Hi guys,
new here & bought my 02-03 (not sure) 660 about a year ago. Im a big yamaha fan but I’m really starting to HATE gorilla axles.
I have researched online & tried almost all tricks to get that axle out with no luck.
Probably doesn’t help i injured my left hand and have limited use with it.
Done all the tricks i could find online to get it out. If i slam anything any harder i think it will just break the Diff. I tried a common bearing puller tool but its too small. Maybe there are some puller/pusher type tools out there that might work?
Another question, before I even attempt this, can I get the diff out of the frame with the left side axle intact? I tried it loosely and seemed like that was a ‘no-go’
Love the ATV, and family uses it a lot & can’t wait to plow some snow around this winter.

I had to pull my rear differential off to have it repaired and its been awhile since I had the axles off. I unbolted the knuckles from the A-arms because it was faster and easier to pull the axle.
My question is, I can’t remember which way the knuckles go back on? I don’t want to put them back on upside down….
Any quick tips or info on making sure I install them right side up would be greatly appreciated.
