Not sure if anyone else has had this problem….Yesterday I was pulling the clutch on a 2014 XP1000. The clutch was being very resistive but I finally heard a pop. However, the clutch hadn’t released. I cranked down some more on the puller with no success. At this point I decided to back the puller out. What I found was that the puller had snapped off about 7 inches down the shaft.
I used a magnet to try to retrieve the broken half but only got some shards. It appears that the portion left in the clutch had expanded and is now tightly wedged inside the center of the clutch, just before it flares.
I’m checking here to see if anyone else has experienced this problem and how they remedied it.
And yes, it was the correct puller for the clutch.
This is on a 2008 rzr. It started "clanking" 2 years ago and has been sitting ever since. The owner asked me to work on it and though I work at a Honda dealership, I couldnt turn down the money.
The first thing I did was clean out the bad fuel and got it running. Put the primary clutch on and cranked it up and it sounded fine. When I put the belt and secondary on, it started the noise. Im wondering if there is any way it could be a bad bushing or something in the secondary or is this gonna be in the trans? It makes the noise in all 5 gears. I jacked up the rear end and spun the tires by hand and everything in the diff and T-case sounded fairly normal. Any help would be appreciated. My lack of knowledge on CVT’s is embarrasing :shhh:
I recently picked up a 2012 RZR4 800 with 4,023 miles on it. It runs out well and I put about 50 miles on it this weekend in the snow of the Colorado Mountains.
My concerns are driven by a couple things:
The guy I got it from said the built only has about 700 miles on it, but he never mentioned the clutch. It has good pull out of the gate, but does not feel like it truly "locks in" if you understand what I mean.
It also has a little bit of a chirp and a gear oil or maybe rubber smail in heavier snow (yes in low range)…..
Thoughts? Is there a key list of shit I need to do or check at 4,000 miles?
My rzr 900 keeps dying when coming to a stop and when it dyes, it’s hard to get out of gear to put back in neutral to restart. This happens quite a bit ,but not every time I stop.
I’m hoping someone can help me to figure out what causes this.
Does anyone have any info on this case? It looks like the HPD case that was made. Didnt know if ATR was producing them now or if they have just never taken the product off there web site
