2014 800 rzr

well I was riding in some very dusty conditions and my 800 got to where it won’t start unless I mash the gas. I cleaned the filter and oiled it like i should, put sea foam in and still it won’t crank unless I get in and mash the gas…. It runs fine after I do this but i’m worried I might have an underlying problem… ANYBODY GOT ANY IDEA’S ABOUT WHAT TO DO, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT…. THANKS TRUCKER DAN

Pulling the engine

Guys,

I have to now pull the engine on my 2010 RZR S w/6000 miles and replace my stator.

My question is, is there anything else that needs to be done while I have the engine pulled? Seems like I heard someone once mention about valve re-adjustments? Let me know. Just trying to make a package deal out of it since it is coming out.

Shimming primary

So I purchased a wide ratio kit and I threw it on my 800 rzr-s. Upon startup the secondary was rotating and it would grind real bad trying to go into gear and I didn’t have the .20-.30 clearance between the outsides of the belt and the primary. I have add to add a crazy amount of shims to get my clearance needed between the belt and primary. Now when I torque the primary the rollers will not even sit on the flyweights. Can anyone help me out on what I am doing wrong? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

something locking up

2009 rzr 800. Looking for suggestions on what’s going on before I spend my friends money on parts so the machine will shift into gear fine in high gear the rzr locks up the rear tires at 25 mph or around there in low range it doesn’t and in reverse it doesn’t I think its the tranny any suggestions would help and the machine has been mudded quite a bit not mine its a friends machine.

Please help me understand

I’m going to sound like a noob; but, I am a computer guy. When a component goes bad, I buy a new one and replace it; I don’t rebuild the entire computer.

Why would I need to pay $2500+ to rebuild the engine for a damaged camshaft (ground lobes)? Why wouldn’t I just be able to replace the $299 cam (and maybe a few seals) like I would a faulty video card?

I’m asking because I want to understand the mechanics behind it. Eventually, as I get closer to military retirement, I’ll be doing more of my own repairs, cutting my costs a bit.
