I have a 2016 XMR 1000 and ride mostly mountain trails, some snow, rock, and a mudhole here or there. After reading up on tires I think I’m going to switch to the pitbull Growler 2.5’s, silverbacks don’t appear to be the best choice for my type of riding.
With these tires should I get the same 30" size as the stock silverbacks? Next largest size is a 27".
If I go with the 30", they only come in 30-10-14’s. Would it matter if they’re 10" wide instead of the stock 9"? Would they fit on stock rims? And would they still handle well not going with a Skinny-Wide setup?
Finally got the quad out for a good flogging and for the most part, she did well.
Ended up going through some 2" ice and ended up in water nearly up to my knees. Not the best thing when it’s 16 out but not horrible, lol. I do kick myself for leaving my muck boots in the truck thinking it would be dry :smilieyikes:
Ended up having to winch out later in the day when the 2 lighter Grizzley’s that were with me went scooting right across some frozen mud, I went right through. Nothing but ice chunks for the tires to try and grip and high centered. :th_smiliepissed:
I think I killed my front light bar too, gotta go troubleshoot.
What size handle bar risers do i need for a 2013 1000 XMR. I was looking at the roxspeed brand. I need to know bar size and riser height. Tired of hitting the throttle when shifting out reverse.
So had bike out over New Years…bought a nice fishing shack..bike was awesome pulling my shack and brother’s wood shack. Not a lot of snow so on hard pack on ice the bike ripped along very well.
Question…colder mornings my nephew’s 650 xmr started way better….
Difference:
Smaller displacement
I have whatever oil can am came with. He runs 0 40 semi synth
He put in a small secondary battery in his back box for winching, starting etc…
Was a noticeable difference starting….
Should I run diff oil in winter than stock?
What are your thoughts on that secondary non atv battery?
As many of you already know the XMR’s have an issue with melting of the plastic air box/seat/side panel etc. from excessive exhaust heat. The resulting air box hole allows water/dirt/etc. to enter the clean side of the air box and ultimately damage the engine. This happened to my 2016 XMR 1000R with only 112 miles on it. Luckily from knowledge gained on this forum, I was made aware of the issue, checked and caught it before any damage was done. I’m thankful others have shared important information on here to help the rest of us. I hope to accomplish the same, by sharing what I found and what I did to solve the issue on my XMR. To do so I will using my brothers 2016 XMR 1000R to show what I found works and how it was done.
I will be doing this in multiple posts to this thread, so bare with me as I type and add photos etc.
I have a customer that wants to run 27" size tires and also have his 16′ XMR 1000R achieve speeds around 70 MPH for trail riding. What options are out there to remove or trick the ECM’s Speed limiter?
hey,im thnking of selling my 28 mudzillas and goin with 30 zillas,,i thnk they would be a better tire for me because i trail way more than mud,but never shy away from the mud along the trail..there lighter than 28 mudzillas and trail better and mud ok,,,but will they fit,i think with the hight of them and decent mudding capabilities it would make a hell of a trailmud machine..i already have dalton installed and secondary bought and ready to go in if need be,,anyway any thoughts on the 650 motor power and 30 zillas bring em on,,id love to here any comments,,
Have been doing a lot of reading in the XMR forum, have decided to go with the best of both worlds for XMR style ATVing. (Thanks for all the info by the way):th_smiliedance:
Ordered a standard 2016 XMR 1000R, for March 30th delivery (Cannot impact my snowmobile addiction):th_smiliethumbsup:, but also ordered a set of Rock tires (evolutions) on 14 inch rims separate. I ride a whole bunch of different areas, stretching from Northern Canada to West Virginia. I like the clearance the XMR provides, I realize being higher it might be a tad unstable but am willing to live with it. The longer frame has a better climbing/ stability, ratio in my opinion. I ride with a friend who has a 2013 XMR with the air compressor, He can make it dance even with the 30 inch gorillas, just very unstable on rocks. My plan is to just put on the tires that suit the riding conditions. Cost for extra tires and mag rims was around $1400.00
On my old 2008xtmax, the max frame was a bit of a pain , took away from the clearance when rock crawling, on my 2012 XT didn’t bang rocks as much but still hit the odd back bone crunchers once in a while, I am hoping the extra 2-3 inches clearance and better shocks on the XMR will help.:thumbsmilie:
Just wondering if anyone has tried Timken 513116 bearings instead of the OEM SKF 30BWD07. If so how do they hold up? After cross referencing i found the Timken to be 1/2 price of the OEM’s. In the autos Timken is top notch.
