I am new to the forum and joined because I am interested in buying a new xmr1000. This will be my first can am. My buddy keeps his brand new renegade 1000 at my house so it gave me the itch for another quad lol
Currently riding an 850XP and a honda trx700 but looking to add another quad.
I have read a lot already but have some questions if you guys don’t mind helping me out.
What makes an XMR different from a regular outlander other than the obvious (tires, wheels, rad relocated) I have heard different things about stronger axles, stronger diffs, helical cut gears. A lot of this is hear say on the net from the guy who knows a guy who owns an XMR😜. Guess I’m looking for the real technical aspects of the machine
I know it is a mud machine, but what about trail riding?
How do you like the front diff action?
What’s the top speed? I don’t need a rocket ship just curious?
Any difference between a 2015 and a 2016?
I really appreciate the help. I have already started looking around for a decent price. I don’t want to use my local stealership (bought one bike from them and won’t deal with them again.
So I got the 2015 XMR1000. First time I took it out I didn’t get 40 yards and the clutch went out. The dogs in the clutch I guess. Can-Am replaced them free of charge due to it had like 20 minutes on its entire engine life. I finally got it out a second time. I put it in 4wheel drive. From a stand still in park brakes on. Eased on the throttle ( due to clutch fears) and I heard a bunch of grinding and clunking from the front. 4wheel drive never engaged. So now it’s back in the shop,,again. Now, I baby this machine for real. I don’t hammer on it or ever plan to.ive read the forums and know you just can’t smash on the throttle. I haven’t even been able to get it past the grey key break in process.. So my question is. I have a feeling this is going to be a continuous issue. I’m looking for upgrade diffs and axles also a clutch. I’ve looked on some sites but can’t find anything for the 2015 xmr1000. Can anyone point me in the right direction or have any thoughts on this?

i just changed all the fluids in my 15 800 xmr and just ran across something while googling around. says for the rear diff you have to measure out the fluid not fill till comes out fill hole like you do on front and gearbox. is this true?
Hi,
Anybody ran into this problem on an xmr getting an exhaust leaks when going into deep water enough to cover the entire exhaust. When i enter the water there is no abnormal noise and as soon i get out of water i can heard a very loud noise like if the header was broken. Removed the exhaust shield and isolate the leaks at the flange with the four spring where the front pipe for front cyl connect in the pipe for the rear cyl.(not at the silencer). I keep driving and the noise dissapear but now when i start it cold the exhaust is noisy for the time it warm up. Complete exhaust has been replaced under warranty and still have problem . Any help appreciated.
Thanks
I went to change my belt and I can’t get the secondary clutch to open up. I have the spreader tool from can am and it started to bend. Any body have any ideas ??
