winter/ trail tires

So I drive alot through the winter and my last bike was a BF 750 with terra crosses, awsome all around tire, so I need a set of tires for groomed and non groomed winter driving, also I might bolt these tires on if I know im goin bikin and doing alot of hard pack, dirt roads and woods trails, ill be buying rims for these tires I should mention, I have the 2015 650 xmr with mudzillas, really happy with bike and tires, so any suggestions would be a help,, I think if I dont end up doing this it will b 14 rims and OL RADIALS, but there expensive and heavy, so im looking for something trail/snow/ light mud capeable, and light and in the 28 inch range to keep my speedo and my dalton kit all working properly, thnx for any suggestions and help

XMR or ????

Ok so the wife just said, on her birthday no less, that she is Ok with me getting a new bike this fall. First YEAH! I have been bike-less for several years, we have a little one that took precedence so I had to sell my old bike to help out. So I am all but sold on the XMR 1000 but there is one small hang-up that I would like to ask those of you that have had these bikes for a while and that is we have one guy in our group that has a pretty quick BF 750 and he constanly brags about being the fastest one around and I want to be able to drive right by him like he was standing still but I still have some really nasty peat bog areas that he cannot access that I want to be able to. I like what the XMR 1000 has to offer but my question is simple, can I make this bike fast or do I need to go with the XTP Max 1000 and turn it into an XMR clone so to speak?

Qsc setup

Im tryin to dial in my clutch and looking for advice, bike is 2015 xmr 800 and running 28" s/w outlaw 2’s, im running the qsc raptor, ffun set it up with 3/8 base, 3/8 mid and 1/4 tip, adam at qsc suggested 3/8, 1/2, 1/4 and mike from pines said 3/8, 3/8, 3/8, while it is a huge improvement over stock i feel like there should be more when im in the deep stuff mind you they are not light tires, i was suggested to try a secondary spring swap also so im lookin into that. Any input or suggestions

Changing Handlebars

I bent my handlebars and broke one of the brackets that holds the wind protectors….I already ordered the same stock handlebars and brackets that came on my xmr…Is removing the old handlebars, grips, etc. pretty straight forward or is there anything that I need to know before it start wrenching?

New CVTech For XMARGH! :)

Just finished installing the new CVTech Trail bloc Primary in my 15 XMR 800R. Clutch was tuned by Kevin @ Get-Torqued. Pretty straight forward install, I’m currently using the stock secondary spring but a replacement is coming from Kevin shortly. I’m also using a Gates C12 belt as per Kevin’s recommendation.

In very short summary this is what you can expect over a bone stock XMR Primary Clutch.
1. Butter Smooth engagement, no jerking, 2100rpm engagement and you can take off in a civilized manor.

2. In High Gear I’m pulling 7350-7550 rpm from a 5MPH roll. The bike actually pulls the front tires off the ground easily in high gear now, where it never used to at all.

3. Low Gear I need to do testing to check the RPM still. I can tell you though the motor is singing nicely along. Stabbing the throttle here will put the bike on the rear bumper lol, oh did I mention wheelies are fun? Peak RPM should be a couple hundred higher then high gear.

4. The only downfall is that a blip of the throttle is needed between gear changes at times, this was noted by several other members as well.

Can am clunksssss…..

So today I pulled my tires just to grease and a check up on my 2014 xmr 1000

The upper ball joint both sides has vertical play, is this normal? Also how much slop should there be? I would assume none is perfect, but it looks as if there slop in the cv joint knuckle area?

#2, when the suspension in the rear is unloaded, (had shocks off for spring spacers, I noticed the whole sway bar, where the grease nipple is could move around. Seems tight with weight on it

I also notice a clunk on front right when wheel drops into a pothole

I also notice when engine braking downhill and hit a bump it sounds like the clutches are clunking, is that normal? I know when you apply throttle it is but I’m coasting downhill

Cheers!!!!
