Got my 840 kit in, got the first issue of the timing fixed, the bike then started great idled great, ran great.. I did the break in period, had no issues.. Break in consisted of idle up to temp, cool all the way down, 1/4 throttle up to temp, cool all the way down (2 rounds of that), half throttle up to temp varying rpms, cool all the way down and then drove it the next day to give some full throttle runs. Bike ran great.
Readjusted the valves after because they started ticking and they had loosened some in the break in I guess. That was squared away and the bike ran great. Then the issue of the battery draining or so I thought that was it. Replaced the stator, battery and voltage regulator and the bike still does the same thing.
On a full charge and when the bike is cold, it will start right up and idle. As soon as it warms up it begins to surge or bog down if your applying throttle. As soon as you let off the throttle it dies. When I attempt to restart it, it barely turns over as if the battery was dead. Ruled out the starter, the starter solenoid, the regulator, battery and the stator. When you turn the key on the fuel pump cycles like it should and all my connections and fuses are good.
When it was warm I heard high pitched squeak coming from the left side of the motor, like a metal on metal sound. I’m hoping a bearing isn’t spun or something to that nature. As soon as the bike cools down and the battery isn’t drained it will fire back up.

Watched a video on YouTube of a guy who has a 07 renegade 800 with 30" silverbacks and it turned them harder than my 1000 with a dalton clutch kit and the same tires. I asked him what he did and he said he cut the ramp on the clutch. His english wasn’t that great so I’m hoping someone could explain what exactly he means and how to do it? The guys name on YouTube is dizefilms
I just got my motor together and am going to start putting it in but wanted to know if I can start it without the new power command for the first start. I now have a mrrpm 840 kit, mrrpm cams, new timing chains, and a new full HMF exhaust. I know I now need the fuel controller and I have it but I’m not sure I know enough about the controller yet and thought starting the motor with original controls the first time would tell me it runs ok before tackling the fuel controller.
just letting everybody know that I have my full MUZZY dual exhaust system with black mufflers and a complete TUNE MONSTER with auto tune that came off my 2012 renegade 1000 for sale and its posted in the classifieds, as well as my sig. with MUZZY going out of business these things are going to be increasingly harder to find. and the tune monster is already perfectly tuned for the Muzzy exhaust and a snorkel. :th_smiliethumbsup:

came across a renegade on CL and the ad said "needs a tune up". Curious as to what the hell he’s talking about I contacted him and asked him about it and he said "it runs great just takes time to get it to idle right when its cold". Anyone know as to what all would be involved in this "tune up"?
Just purchased a brand new battery because I assumed my old one was dead. The bike fired up a few times but noticed it started seeming weak the more the motor was turned over.
Finally the bike shut off while driving and would barely turn over when I tried to start it back up.. Hooked up jumper cables to it, with a running jeep on the other end and almost got it fired up, but quickly barely turn after every attempt.
Everything was hooked up correctly, I haven’t tested with a voltage meter to see if the stator is bad but am I correct that these are signs of a bad stator? I assumed it works the same as a car with an alternator?
I did get the bike finally fired after waiting for a very long time. Rode it around, mind you my lights were on, and if I stopped it idled for a couple seconds then died and the battery was back to how it was.
Hi all,
Installed a dalton clutch kit in my 500 the other day and I’m really happy with it. After installing I ran it for about 20 seconds with the cvt cover off then rechecked the tightness of the bolts primary was tight but the secondary turned about 1/4 of a turn freely then it was tight. Started up again and check again and the secondary bolt did the exact some thing turned 1/4 of a turn then tightened again. It seems it can loosen 1/4 of a turn and not more unless I rely try it, also tightens 1/4 of a turn and no more. Seems like a locking system is this normal.
I’m getting a code P0261 which relates to the #1 injector.. Cylinder #1 injector open circuit or shorted to ground… has anyone had this issue before and how to fix it?
