Storage on rear rack? What are you using?

I’ve decided I need some kind of storage compartment to attach to my rear rack, usually carry a back pack with "supplies" but tired of carrying it around. I don’t want anything too large, nothing with a seat but big enough to carry a few bottles of water, a few snacks and/or other supplies. Not looking to spend a lot of money, was at Cabelas today and that place is pretty expensive but they had a few items that gave me some idea’s.

Drain plug

Just did the 10 hr oil change on my 500 2015 outlander max xt, got some drain plug washers from the dealer, when I removed the plug it took a 13mm socket and had no magnet to catch shavings, and the washers I got from the dealer were way too big , any ideas way mine is different from others?

New 2015 Outlander 500 XT or Used 2014 Polaris 850 SP

Hi all, I’ve been looking at getting back into a ATV after not having one for a few years. My last bike was a 2001 Honda 350, which was gutless and bored me to death.

I’ll be using it mainly for trail rides and plowing my driveway. Mostly 1 up, but will occasionally take a passenger. My budget is around 10k plus tax.

I was really close to buying a 2015 500 L DPS since I like the idea of the 5 yr warranty, but went to my local dealer today and he pretty easily convinced me I’d be better off with a 500 XT since I wanted the bumpers and a winch for plowing. They are clearing out the 2015’s for $10,600 Canadian plus tax, with a 3yr factory warranty.

I found an almost new (181 km) 2014 Polaris 850 SP for $10,500, but I can probably get it for 10K. It has 18 months factory extended warranty remaining, with factory winch and hand/thumb warmers and rear fender protectors, plus 27" ITP Black Water tires.

Which one would you get? I really want to go Can Am, but for the money I’m really leaning towards the Polaris.

I know the 500 isn’t super powerful, but I can’t swing another grand for the 650. I’ve driven my buddies 700 Yamaha King Quad and found that had plenty of power for me, and I think the 500 will out perform that.

Strange Brake Problem

I’ve got a ’13’ 650 XT that has developed a strange brake problem the last 2 times I’ve been out riding. Brakes seem to be working as they should but every once in a while it starts scrolling brake across the gauge, the check engine light comes on and will start missing or cutting out. All I’ve been doing is stabbing the rear brake petal and side step it and it will usually clear it up, sometimes I have to do it a couple of times to get it to stop. It did this about 6 times today on a 95 mile ride we took, when I got back to the trailer I was saying something about it to my friend who was riding behind me and he says that my brake lights look like they are on all the time and when I do apply them the tail lights get dimmer instead of brighter. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on? :th_smiliepullhair:

outlander L 450 overall width

I need a favor from a outlander L 450 owner. I am without mine for most of this week but need to sign on a storage unit. The website says the width is 46", the door width on what I got is 49". I know one plus one is two but if someone has an outie they can verify this measurment for me id be very greatful. BTW 415$ for replacing all fluids and a valve job. Best price for the area 🙁

Axles popping out with SuperATV 2″ lift??

Installed new trailing arm bearings on brother’s 2006 Max 800, and the old springs were sagging so bad, decided to put a 2" lift on it.

Got everything installed, and the left axle pulled out of the diff about 3/8"…..so I popped it back in. Went for a test spin, noticed only spinning one tire. Got back to the shop, right axle was moving around in the inner joint. Pulled that axle out, the cage and balls pulled out of the joint…..I was able to put everything back in, but I am wondering if this lift is more than a stock machine can handle? I went ahead and moved the pre load on springs down to lowest setting…..just confused as to why this is happening? I have used pipe lifts for years and no problems??
