Hello everyone, I am a newbie to the forum. Been working on ATV’s for around 20 years, and this is my first CANAM. It is an 06 Outlander 800. Everything works as it should except the digital functions on the speedometer just quit working. It was fine one day, didn’t work the next. Speedo still lights up any time the key is on, and it starts and runs great. Don’t have any indicator lights or Digital readouts. I have checked the power on pins 8 and the ground on pin 11, both are fine. (Don’t think it would light up if they weren’t). Checked for continuity between the ECM and the speedo (both wires) and all is fine there. Didn’t know if anyone else has had the same problem, or if I could find a pin out for the speedo to verify if it is indeed bad. I have the factory manual, but it doesn’t have any kind of pin out for the speedo. Hope I have explained my problem well enough, thanks in advance for any suggestions!
We bought an 800 Outlander as a travel bike. Although we’ve had it over a year, we’ve only put about 20 miles on it since we’ve been on no ATV trips and it only has 600 miles on the clock.
Even on those short forays around home, I immediately became aware of the unbearable heat coming from the exhaust on the L leg. After reading multiple threads here, I knew I had to do something if I was going to keep it.
With the upcoming Rocky Mountain Jamboree – we leave tomorrow – in a nick of time, I had the whole exhaust system, including the heat shields, ceramic coated and the Hayden 3647 fan contoller installed. I also had some Heat Demon heated grips/thumb warmer installed for snow plowing this winter.
It tentatively seems to be a big improvement, but the test will be those several hundred upcoming miles in Utah.
I did notice that the heated grips really drain the battery.
What I also bought but won’t have time to install before the trip, is a 12" LED combo light bar.
After the trip, I’ll report how everything worked.
Wave or introduce yourself at the Jamboree if you see an old fart with a gray beard and a cute wife on a maroon CanAm Outlander.
I’m assuming there is still the other part of the Velcro left behind from where you mount the controller. Does the dealer ever question what that is for? I’d think they know exactly what it’s for. Just curious if anybody has ever been questioned about it and if anybody has ever came up with a clever response to what one could want mounted there which would not void warranty…..like, ":that’s where I mount my secret condom pouch"….lol Just thought I’d check to see what one might say when/if they are questioned about that strip of Velcro.
have an 07 650 outty. my fan, headlights and acc outlet don’t work. has anyone ever had all three go out? they must be on the same circuit! when i turn the key on, i can hear a click coming from fuse box. is this normal? hoping someone can lead me in the right direction, as i really don’t have the cash at this time to take it into a shop!

Have a 2012 outlander 1000 xt can someone help on the accessory this connector would power? There is power with key off and appears to be a decent size Eire so there should be some decent amps to power a light bar and angel lights.
I was taking off my back right tire and when I pulled it off this piece fell out from somewhere. Anyone know what it’s off? Or maybe I picked it up riding on Saturday… It looks like it had sticky foam on the back. I thought maybe it comes from the inside of the rim. Theyre about the size of a quarter.
Recently I moved from New Brunswick Canada to Newfoundland Canada. I did not bring my Commander (King Kong) with me for a number of reasons the main one is when I get home I need a ride.
Looking on classifieds here and looking strongly at a 2011 800 xmr tricked out pretty good with 1200 km (700 miles) for $8200 Canadian.
Hoping you can fill me in on the pros and cons of this machine before I pull the trigger, I don’t know many folks to ride with so I think the XMR is a good option. I won’t be running mud, mainly trails with my better half on the back.
But if I get blocked I like to know I have the rig to get me home.
Appreciate comments, in the meantime; I will do some searching on the machine, and always open to look at other options on bike choices.
I’m changing the front facia on my 650 because it cracked and bent on one side when I rolled it. is there any thing special with removing the lights to be aware of?
I have a 2012 outlander 800. I have a issue with my electrical and not wanting to start. I can let it sit for a week or month sometimes and it will crank right up and sometimes it want. And then we will be riding and every time we stop i have to jump it off. And then sometimes it will crank up. I have put a new battery in it 3 times in the past year, and not the cheap ones. I would expect this out of my 2008 outlander but not my wifes 2012. It barely gets over 15 miles per hour and it is babied. :th_smiliepullhair::th_smiliepullhair::th_smiliepu llhair:
