Changing The coolant o schedule

I was about to change my antifreeze because it is almost 2 years old, and I had all the plastic off since I was changing gear oil and engine oil tranny. I’m a little confused why it says to clamp both hoses, I understand about cracking open the bleed screws, I ‘m not sure how to access the back bleed screw but that’s another question, but why clamp the hoses, or maybe for the fluid to bypass and fill from the bottom up to the thermostat. Anyone have an answer, also how often do you drain your coolant.

Bent Tie Rod

So, trail riding on my outlander I somehow bend a tie rod. The trail was rough, and I was driving aggressive but certainly didn’t hit anything other than bumps in the trail. Seems strange that it would bend, but I hear they’re weak.

Spoke to the dealer, and they said warranty is about 50/50 whether BRP will cover it, since it’s a ‘wear’ item. Considering I often mud, and with 30" tires, it’s understandable it would happen so….

Thinking that it may be worth the money to upgrade them. I see highlifter has a set, but at $185 (shipping incl.) USD, that puts them at $250. A little much for tierods.

AllBalls has an upgrade kit that’s less than half of that. Yes I know, you get what you pay for, but has anyone tried these out? Any good? Or junk?

Aftermarket gas cap

Hello, I’m looking into any aftermarket gas cap. I’m getting fine sand in my tank and thats what are trails are mostly where we ride I’m sure its also coming from the vent tubes and I’ll put some fixings on them when I get to them if anybody has ideas on covers/filters for vent tubes give me your ideas also if anybody knows a filter system to put over the neck of your gas tank filler neck while filling it at a gas station would be great to. Thanks

rear diff

my 2014 650 xmr 900 miles, I know I got a bit of water in the rear diff thru the vent tube but when I went to change the oil it was like black sludge and wouldn’t even drain. I flushed a few times with atf and ready to add recommended oil. have anyone seen this? the front was fine nice and clear.

Engine Oil

I want to change my engine oil to Royal Purple 5W40, based on what I’ve read in the other threads, however I’m just looking for some feedback regarding what the owners manual says. It recommends 4 stroke 5W30.
Will putting in full synthetic 5W40 still be ok even though it’s not 4 Stroke?
Thanks guys
