Are any of you guys having problems with the exhaust head pipe melting the plastic? If so, how have you guys dealt with it?
The side cover on my ’05 400 XT is melted from the exhaust heat. The two piece plastic cover came apart because the plastic snap tabs are melted off and there is a hole melted in the outer plastic.
I pop riveted the 2 halves back together and here is how I plan to deal with the heat issue.
I picked up a roll of header wrap. I’m going to rap the pipe up to the tail pipe flange. Ill let the spring loops poke through the wrap and then wrap the back half the same way.

My 2005 Can-Am Outlander 800 Bombardier won’t turn over anymore.. Pushing the start button shuts lights off and engages fuel pump, but does nothing else. Doing this while crossing the starter solenoid terminal will turn it over but will not start. I have spark, starter was tested and runs great, just replaced solenoid. Battery is fully charged and brand new, so what next? Is this a computer issue with the chipped key?
I’ve got a 2005 outlander 400 ho 4×4. I have engine oil leaking out of a seal on the front of the drive train. Can you help me identify which part I need to fix the leak? The seal is under the collar where the drive shaft/yoke comes out.
I have a 2012 outlander 500 xt with 165 miles on it. I took it out the other day around the yard and the dps light came on. The steering felt a little different but nothing crazy. I figured i’d bring it to dealer so they can take a look. They called me back and said i need a new dps unit and it would cost me about $1200 with install!!!! That’s crazy! Can anyone give me some advice on what to do? Thank you
came across a good deal on a 2008 outlander 800. The only problem is it has 4,500 miles… my last bike had about the same amount of miles and it was constantly having problems. Only difference is it was mud built so it was probably 4k miles of mud riding abuse. this seems to be fairly clean from the ad. Even the motor is silver and not mud stained (last one was dark brown:thumbsmilie: ) my question is do you think i would expect a lot of problems out of any kind of bike with that high of miles? No matter what the background?

OK, I know every one has an opinion….. I have almost 20,000 miles on my 1K now and my primary is worn bad. It even drives it’s self now and then. I’m going to buy a new primary clutch and asking for opinions. I mostly ride dirt trails, I run wide open allot and would love more top end, Seldom in deep mud. What do you guys think would be my best option???
