Std faster than max. clutching or..??

I have a 2014 Outlander Max XT 1000. My buddy has a 2012 Outlander XT 1000 (shorty). Not that I normally ride this fast but we had to see…
My wot is 70-71 on flat hard pack. I have never hit my engine limiter.
His is 77-78 when he hits his engine limiter…every time.
Mine has 1200 miles on it now. His has 1800. Both machines are bone stock no accessories. My rear seat was not on the machine when we ran them. We ran them last summer and this year so far with the same results. Both belts should be in similar shape as we’ve ridden together since they were both new under same conditions and never in mud/water. Just trail riding & no pulling, plowing, climbing, etc. Nothing that would cause excessive wear to my belt.
We thought the difference was in clutching & that the max is clutched for carrying 2 people but after checking the parts lists for both machines, they are the same in Max and shorty from 2012 to ’14.
I would not think the small difference in weight would have that much of an affect.
I dont think there’s a problem with the machine, it’s just not as fast as I think it should be.
So what’s the deal? What do you guys think??

Foam air filter

So I wanna switch over to a foam air filter, I didn’t use it yet, but I bought a uni, I don’t really like how it has an un-removable metal screen, that keeps you from being able to squeeze the filter for cleaning and oiling.

What is the twin-air like, is it the same way, or can you remove all the mental parts for cleaning?

Fuel Gauge 2005 Outlander 400

Hi

I got a -05 Outlander 400 and thinking about replacing the fuel gauge ’cause it’s broken. It is placed directly on the tank with a plastic see through glass on it.

The question… How does this thing come off? Is it threaded or is it straight up force that’s required?

When it it’s replaced, is some sort of sealant needed?

Thanx alot!

Fuel issues

Am trying to see if anyone might have had these Problems. I have a 2009 800R Max Limited I did change the Fuel Pump a few months back and all was good now am having issues after riding for awhile and all is warmed up it does start to miss and cutout. The fuel tank light comes on & shows empty but tank is full. if I just shut it down let it cool off All is good again for awhile till it gets warmed up again. Just at a lost if this is something simple or I need to send to the shop & have it plugged in or something thinking it is electronics any advice would help thanks???
