2008 Outlander. Stripped Oil Bolt. Help.

2008 Outlander 650xt.

I’ve read 100 threads across this forum and others. Can someone please explain to me what size oil drain bolt I need and where I can get it?

I stripped the stock one. I would rather not pay my dealership $150 to fix it and I’m not comfortable going the helicoil or timesert route myself.

I’ve read good things about just "buy a size up, grease it, and put a good washer on it"….

I went to AutoZone and had no clue what the hell I was looking at. M12x1.25 or M14x1.75, etc…. I don’t know what size I need, what type of bolt I need, or where to get any of it.

Any advice is welcomed. Thanks!

How hot is too hot for storage?

Gday!

So we are moving and I dont trust anyone to keep my outlander safe in *Their* garage while moving lol…

Ive found a couple storage places out where I live, except they all use converted railway cars. Great price, but these are not insulated, they are huge steel train cars.

It is hot and humid out here this time of year, temps are around +28 to +32 and with humidex it feels like +40 some days.

I expect the temperature in these bin’s to get extreemly hot, I was reccommended to not store anything that is heat sensitive in them.

So, Do you guys think my ATV will be safe in there for a month or three? I am nervous of it melting plastics, but then again the motor gets pretty hot while running..

Am I worrying too much? lol

Help! Im stumped

Here is my situation, after approx half hour to an hour of mostly slower riding bike starts feeling like it’s running hot (no warning lights though) it will start to bog if especially under load; like if you get off throttle and try to ease back into it while climbing hill, it will bog and stall! Now I had this issue back a year or so and it was fuel pump? Replaced and all was well; but this time bike gets hot and after maybe one or two starts it will just crank. let her cool down and still nothin, after being towed by a po po, all the way back to camp (sorry guys I’m so ashamed), I noticed pump wasn’t priming checked wires etc and found is blown the 7.5 amp fuse. looked for bad wire or conections found nothin plugged new 7.5 and she fired up and died while at idle. Shit! I had driven a long way and paid a lot to come ride so I went over all wires I could including of course the batt. Reg etc all seems tight no corrosion just muddy. As I didn’t have anothe 7.5 I put in a 10 she idled for fifteen min no prob so took a little ride still good so off we went rode the rest of the day beat the piss out of her best I could, no more problems rest of day 50plus miles stopped for lunch and drink breaks and no prob. Ended as a good day:) next ride was two states away with a buddy of mine and thirty to forty min Into ride same shit! I thought no way can’t be same thing but sure as shit it was now I put a 15amp fuse in and rode the rest of the day, and we beat um up good, stuck in the mud, towed buddy out of mud, some good full throttle blast and she ran great. Put at least 45 miles on her after fuse. But I do t know why this is happening and running a higher amp fuse could cause more damage. I’m pretty sure it’s not a short as that would blow the 15 too. My thought is something is creating additional resistance in fuel pump circuit. Can someone point me to manual for g1 outlander 800xt so I can see the fuel pump circuit. Any other ideas or recommendations? Need to have her ready for a three day trip to NH. THX

Panel warns me “BRAKE”. Need help…

I have purchased my Outlander L 450 MAX 2 weeks ago and i was away for a week. I see a warning message which says "BRAKE" I don’t know what it means.

I have a few more problems actually. The times i see this BRAKE warning, my can-am always cuts or brakes as i accelerate. And also i don’t know why but the maximum speed is like 50 km/hrs. Is it normal? I know this is not for speeding but 50km is nothing. My can-am doesn’t look strong. Let’s say i am climbing, it is very very slow and not powerful.

I need some advise here…

G2 owners with a Moose Plow. Which mount?

So I went to dealer to price plows for my 2013 650 XT. $700.00…ouch! Oh well, its needed. I then get a call from a friend who’s Aunt just bought an 07 Eiger. Has a 60" Moose Plow and do I want it? Absolutely!!! She has no need for a plow and just wants it out.

My question is, I have the BRP skid plates. Dealer said I cannot use the BRP mounting plate, I’ll have to use the Moose one. Will I have to do some fabricating to make the mount work around the skid plate? Looks to be some different mounting plates out there, is there a specific one I should use?

Thanks!
