New to me Can Am DS90

Hey all, new here but not to ATV’s, just Can am’s. I just picked up what i believe to be a 2008 Can-Am DS 90 X? I ran the VIN and it does come back as an 08. Picked it up really cheap ($160 but it was quite a trip to pick it up).

As you can see its pretty beat up. Looks to be ridden hard. Its NOT running at this time. They butchered the ignition (switch is missing for some reason and wires cut) also missing battery and the kick start lever. (I did run the VIN through the NCIB database and some other sites to make sure its not stolen.. looks OK, guy gave me a Bill of Sale at least)

I have a few questions. Is this really the X model? It looks to have some aftermarket parts on it and they said its bored to 110 cc?
Also one of the brake master cylinder eye glass is broken, im assuming ill have to replace the whole part?

What concerns me the most is the kick start lever missing, as if they were trying to hide something. I can actually push the stud in so it feels loose- moves by hand back and fourth so not sure if that’s right?

I’ve already ordered the battery and ign switch so that’s a start..
Plan was to get this for my 6 year old son (will be 7 in August) but im not sure now. I think it might be way to much for him?

Ds90 converting to disc?

Ok I was just wonder if anyone has changed from the drum brakes to disc and if it’s worth it?
My sons ds90 is drum and I changed his rear shoes now twice and his drum is worn out at $100 for the drum. The disc brakes seem to work better and last longer on my daughters ds90x so I was curious if anyone has done it or priced it out?

DS250 2007 Shifting problem & Idle issue

I have two questions that I cannot find an answer to. The first one is that when I shift in reverse nothing happens. I have to rev up the engine and then it pops into reverse spinning the tires. It’s not smooth like shifting into drive and it only does this in reverse. Is this a simple adjustment issue?

The other problem is when it is idling it misses every now and then and almost stalls and actually does stall when I come to an abrupt stop. This also happens when running it down the trails at various speeds. I have changed the fuel filter, flushed the old fuel out, cleaned the spark plug, and adjusted the fuel mixture and idle screw. This did make a huge difference in the way it runs; however, it still misses every now and then. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

DS90X Chain size 428?

I need to buy a new chain and sprockets for my boys bike and so far I am not sure I am finding the right size chain. Just want to confirm if I purchase the sprockets new from the dealer the chain for the stock sprockets is a 428. I am surprised the online manual does not specify the chain size but his won’t stay on and the adjustment is at the end. I guess that means a lot of good fun has been had!

250 DS Carb problems

Newbie here. My DS 250 was not running that good after sitting awhile so pulled the carb and cleaned and reinstalled. Can anyone tell me the initial adjustment on the carb idle and air screws to get this this machine started. It doesnt fire up at all and it is getting spark. Much appreciated
