Below is an excerpt from an interesting article about the origins to the DS250 and its sister bikes, the Quad Lander 250 and the TGB Blade 250 . Here is the address to the article:
"…the Canadian firm BRP turned to the Taiwanese manufacturer SYM, recognized for design quality and scooters since 2005 quads in combination with another manufacturer Taiwan, E-Ton quad specialist. Therefore not surprising to find the 4T single cylinder 249 cc liquid-cooled already present in certain parts Quad Lander and the chassis coupled with disc brakes front and rear. As regards the rest; saddle, body parts, the counter, the stalks, everything was prepared for BRP and some parts have received minor modification such triangles suspension and swingarm."
Here is a link to the FREE service/repair manuals of the Qaud Lander 250 and the Blade (they’re in English). The engine parts are pretty much dead on to the DS250. Detailed specs may be different but the basic principles to the repair will apply.
The oil reservoir for the rear brake was hit by a rock or some type of debris and crack. Why would CanAM put a plastic oil reservoir just inches away from a tire that is designed to toss mud, sand, stones, and whatever else at it? Why. Maybe it was to save them a couple dollars on hose. Anyways…
Aside from fixing it, I relocated it to a place it should have been from the factory. All I needed to do was purchase 2 feet of 5/16 hose (that will hold up to brake fluids) and a couple clamps. The exact replacement reservoir was $14 on ebay. Do yourself a favor if your bike sees a lot of mud’n and relocate it. I attached a couple photos.

One thing (among many) I dislike about the DS250 is their lack of zerk fittings. You wouldn’t think that a manufacturer with the quality name of CanAm would produce such a low quality bike like the DS250. It would be like Cadillac putting their badge on the low end Chevy Cavalier – oh wait – they did didn’t they, and called it Cimarron? Anyways… done with my rant.
Has anyone ever tried drilling out the ball joints, A-arms, or other pivoting areas and install zerks fittings? I’m interested in doing this but fear causing more harm than good. Any ideas? Any two cents would be appreciated. :smilietwocents:

Okay, I’ve searched virtually all forums for the answer and found little specifics on this: I want to change my front sprocket to the 14t. What is a part number that I can look up and search on either ebay or Amazon. If not a part number than to what cross referenced other bike. One forum referenced a yamaha 250 sprocket. That is not specific enough. Please help. Thanks.
