Hey guys I got a simple question for those of you in the know
– last week I had to limp home with a over temp motor later found due to a bad fan fuse (no idea why fuse blew,,,?)
Anyways long story is now I’m installing A Hayden 3647 fan controller and I’m wondering where and what wire to use to tap into the 12v with the controllers red and yellow wires…. Keep in mind that I want to later install aftermarket hand and thumb warmers so I don’t want to use the wrong circuit or overload the acc circuit
Pretty much if I find the acc wires under the pod will that circuit allow for everything it has on it already along with hand and thumb warmers AND the fan controller?
Or is there another source/circuit I would be better using …… Plus someday I’d like to add a small led light bar
So I’ve been chasing down a cooling problem on my ATV since beginning of last season. I finally found a way to correct that with a combination of richening the fuel (Muzzy Pro Tuner) a fan controller, and flushing the coolant where I found some nasty looking jelly like stuff.
Well now the bike is doing a new things where after about 2 hours of riding the check engine light displays on the screen, as well as the ‘Limp Home Mode’ message. The only thing is, it’s not in limp mode. I still have full throttle and the bike feels as good as it always does.
So I did a search on both this and the other forum and found that a common problem is 1. Fuel Pressure, and 2. Gear indicator sensors.
I’ve ordered a new fuel pump and will replace that as soon as it gets here.
My question is on the 2nd topic. The 3 gear indicator sensors. How exactly do you go about cleaning them? Do you have to physically remove the sensors? Or just snap off the Oeitker clamp and remove the connector?
Lastly, the manual suggests spraying on some electrical insulation paint/varnish. What is everyone using for that? I’ve gone to both the local hardware store and the local Lowe’s and at both places the guy looked at me like I was an idiot. I’ll be honest, I’ve never heard of this stuff before.
Other than that, is there anything else anyone can think of that could be the problem with this check engine light?
I’ve tried to pull the code but I’ve never been able to get that screen to come up but maybe 2 times. And it’s always after the bike has been shut off so the code is cleared.
I’m taking our first trip to Hatfield McCoy at the end of the month and I really want this thing running tip top before then.
The bike has 4350 miles on it, and aside from the overheating issue has been an awesome machine. I just wish I could figure this out.
Just a question on timing chain and guides. My chains are the ones with M stamped on it so these are the newer style aren’t they? Also does this mean I also have the new guides to? What do they look like?
The Can Am dealer that I have been using for the last few years started charging to much for his parts. Today I wanted a clutch cam that was listed on Can Am’s web page for $ 78.+ he wanted $86.+ so watch your dealer he may rip you off.:th_smiliepissed::th_smiliefrustrated

Hey all – haven’t been here in a LONG time.. just haven’t been riding much unfortunately.
Outlander 800, 2008 model. Not hearing fuel pump prime when key is turned on, check engine is on, and the code readout is P0231, which according to another post is (P0231 Fuel pump open circuit or shorted to ground). It was fine when I last rode about 4 months ago, been sitting in the garage untouched since.
Is this fairly conclusive of a bad pump, or is there something else I should be checking? Battery voltage is fine – turns over fine and has been on a battery tender 24/7.
