Need tire advice

Looking to change the tires on my ’15 Sportsman 850, I ride mostly on roads and trails with a lot of jagged rocks. Cutting a tire is always a possibility but haven’t yet. There’s some swampy sections full of rocks, sticks and stuff. Was leaning towards AMS radial pro’s. Looking for any advice. Thanx

Bearclaw htr skinnys all the way around

Looking to buy new tires for my Sportsman 850 and thinking about going with bearclaw htrs 28x9x14 on front and back anyone run this combo? I ride trails, fast gravle roads, light mud, plowing and working in the woods. Would 9 inch all the way around be good or should I get 11s for the rear

Grim Reapers on ITP SS112

I just put ITP SS112 Wheels and Grim Reapers on my 2015 Sportsman 850. I ordered them as a package deal on ebay ready to install. I get a terrible wheel shimmy from 25mph and up. I am running 7 psi all the way around. Any ideas? Is it possible I received a bad tire/s and or wheel/s. Should I just send them all back for possibly being bad tires and or rims?

2013 850XP wheels on 2011 800 Twin EFI?

Hello all. This is my first post. I’m just getting back into ATVing after being out for about 10 years. My last ATV was a new 2005 Sportsman 500HO.
I just bought a 2011 Sportsman 800 Twin EFI. By my measurements my wheels have 5/2 front and 5/3 rear offset. I have found a set of 2013 850XP ALUMINUM 14 inch wheels w new 489s on Craigslist I’m interested in.
Does anyone know what the offset on the XP wheels are? I asked the seller to measure offset and he didn’t understand what I was asking and he is a couple hours away. I do not want to widen the track of my 800 due to I’m building an ATV carrier for my truck to haul two 48inch ATVs.
Thanks in advance.

What PSI are you running

So I pulled a the trigger on a set of 28 inch mega mayhems. I took the quad out for a ride on sunday and we rode some decently rough trails, and noticed that the tires seemed very stiff and over the rocks compaired to the stock rubber. Im assuming it was do the the taller and stiffer sidewalls, to gain back a bit of smoothness over rough terrain should I lower some pounds out of the tires or soft en up the pre load a bit. Would the tires soften a bit with time?

Sportsman 570 Suggestions

Looking to get some shoes for the 570, upping to 27" or 28" will be buying new rims. Here is where the dilemna starts…

Not sure wether to buy 12" or 14" rims. What are the pros/cons of each?

As for tires, I’m torn between the Maxxis Zilla, Interco Swamp Lite, and of course OL2’s.
I ride lots of trails with rocks and logs as well as mucky mud throughout. Quite a few water crossings with greasy bottoms, but in between trails is "high speed" open dirt roads, So I want to still be stable at higher speeds and able to break loose when necessary like in tight corners.

I will be buying a clutch kit, but do not plan on buying new axles which is why I’m leaning towards the lighter Zilla vs the heavy outlaw. The swamp lite is an option because of a buddy I ride with sometimes, doesn’t have any real complaints on them except they are soft, which worries me for rocky climbs.

I will be dropping quite a bit of coin on this whole package and do not want to be stuck with a set-up that doesn’t really work for me. Anything and everything helps!

Thanks

Tire Advice?

I have a 2012 sportsman 500. I’m about to put new tires and rims on it.

I wondering what the biggest ( front and back) tires I can put on without add spacers or anything? Without making it tippy?

I also was hoping for some suggestions for the best all terrain tires? In case this helps with advise. I live and ride of great Canadian shield country. So lots of steep rock climbing, also lots of dirt and water holes. There are lots of good mud holes as well. Although mud is a small part of my riding I do enjoy going threw instead of around it.

Lastly I use my bike a lot in the winter for plowing snow and riding to fish hut. I was thinking a 6ply (low as I comfortable going because of punctures) as my understanding is the higher the ply the worse it is in snow?

There are the tires I’ve been considering

STI Outback Tires ( riding buddy just replaced his tire and rims with a set of these installed for just under a 1000) He loves the ride everywhere (little rough on pavement) and just ate up any mud we went threw.

GBC Grim Reaper or GBC Spartacus

Maxxis Bighorn Radial 2.0 ( dosen’t sound like they great in mud)

Kenda Bearclaw K299. If I decide to go cheap. found a few articles say great tire at a great price?

Thanks

Tire size/type for Polaris 450

Hi. First post here. This is a great forum.
The original Carlisle 389’s are wearing out so I’m looking to upgrade.
I’ve never been so confused with tire choices. Not only the type of tire, but the size too!

For starters, this is a full size Polaris Sportsman. I understand the 450 is not a big engine, but it seems to have plenty of power for me, especially in Low gear.

First question; the stock tires are 25×8-12 front, and 25×11-12 rear.
I’ve read that bigger size tires cause all kinds of problems. Axle failures, clearance issues, and with a 450 engine – bogging down due to not enough power. I understand all of this, but I don’t know if a little bit bigger would be fine, or if I should just stay with the stock size. I’m not interested in a clutch kit, or lift kit. I just want a nice tire that will be good for pretty much everything; snow plowing, mud, & trails riding. (sure, I want everything, right?)

Any thoughts on if I shoul just stay with the stock sizes or if I could go up to, let’s say a 26×10-12 front and a 26×12-12 rear?

Ok, next question is the tire type.
I would really like to get something more agressive than the 389’s.
I’ve found really good deals on Kendra. Bearclaws and Executioner.
I’ve read good things about the Bearclaws, but the specs say it only has a 1/2" of tread depth. The executioner has 1.2" of depth.

Maybe this is enough for now.
Give me some ideas on size, and on tire choices.
Thanks!
