Hello there! I just purchased my first Scrambler, a 2001 Polaris Scrambler 500cc 4×4 concentric drive. It needed a few things including tires. I got some aftermarket rims and tires and i knew that my scrambler had a 1" difference in tire size so i found a set on craigslist and got them! Turns out they came off a scrambler and were 1" in difference in size.
Turns out it was 1" in the wrong direction. Originally there was 22x11x10 on the rear and 23x7x10 on the front. The tires I bought were 26x8x12 on the rear and 25x12x12 in the front. Thats +4" in the rear and +3" in the front. I went with the taller tires for more ground clearance and better traction.
My question is do i need to change the rear sprockets to match the original ratio? or since it has the CVT system and drive shaft front drive compared to dual chain drive will it be ok?
I only intend to run the 4×4 in the slop, not on hard or dry ground so it shouldnt be a issue, i just dont want to break something when the need for 4×4 arises. Also with this tire combo will the clutch need changed? The one on it now is pretty worn out.

Anyone running CST Wild Thangs?? I’m considering Zillas, Mud Lite XL, and similar tires. Looking for opinions on Wild Thang because I didn’t get a hit on the board via key word search.
Are these a good value and performer compared to other mud tires?
I am in need of new tires on my Magnum 425 4×4, and was thinking of getting Zillas. Unfortunately I can not get a set for the stock rims (12×6 front 10×8.5 rear) that I was just going to sandblast and paint. So now I am thinking of buying 12"Delta rims, and putting 25" or 26" Zillas on them. As I am new to owning a ATV, and know little about tires, I was wonder what people with a bit more experience thought of this. I ride 50% soft dirt, 30% hard trail, and 20% mud.
My big questions are:
Am I going to wear out Zillas too fast?
How are the Zillas going to compare to the Dunlop 25x12x10s that I had?
How is a 425cc going to handle these rims and tires
I bought a new sportsman 90 for my son and it just needs ground clearance.is there any wheel of of other Polaris atv’s that will bolt on or do I have to just buy talle tires.not looking for a mud slinger just where he can ride some trails with out getting hung up all the time.thanks for any info
Been thinking of getting new tires for my atv. Been searching around and seems that going up a size in tires from stock should be fine and no clutching.
Stock rims are:
Front – 25×8-12
Rear – 25×11-12
Thinking of using the stock rims and going to
Front – 26×9-12
Rear – 26×12-12 or 26×11-12
I guess I’m just curious as to whether or not I’ll have any rubbing issues?
Was looking around and couldn’t quite find the answer I was looking for, wish there was a sticky for wheel fitments on particular models.
Hey guys just bought my first atv it is a 2007 Sportsman 800. The tires that are on there are 26x8x12 front and 26x11x12 Rear. It needs tires and I was thinking about getting the maxxis bighorn 2.0. will those tires fit in that size? It just seems like everyone says they run a little bit bigger. Also it looks like i can’t get the fronts in 26×8 it is a 26×9? TIA
