Wheel and tire woes for hardball…..

So….

I own a stock 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 that has been absolutely my baby since i bought it new off the showroom floor. in fact i keep it detailed like the day i bought it i love it so much.

Back when i got the quad i bough a set of ITP Spider Tracks on ITP wheel measuring:

25×9.5×12 fronts
25×12.5.12 rears

I use these for snow and sand duties. Still an excellent tire and have gotten great longevity out of them.

When i wasn’t in the snow or sand i just trucked around on the stock goodyear tracker Ps.

Well now I have the issue that i am an old fart and my ride sees more time on the hardball in the subdivision than in the woods. So just going down to the mailbox everyday and general cruising the neighborhood the tracker Ps are now racing slicks. not a knob left on them. I plan to replace them with some mud lites.

I thought getting new wheels and tires for hardball would be easy. i remember Polaris even selling a kit back in the day when i got my quad. not so much.

I found the Carlisle all trail tire and it has great reviews for the usage i need, but i cannot find a wheel to fit the Polaris ATV in the proper sizes…

Basically i am throwing a line out there as to what anyone else is using for a hardball tire. I would love these all trails but cannot get a wheel to fit. I want something similar without breaking the bank.

thanks…. oh and take it easy on me…. its my first post here 🙂

Looking at new rims for my 850

i am looking at rims for my 850 and I know I will need 14s but what width can i get away with. I see alot of aftermarket rims are 7 inchs wide, when the stock rims are 8 inch width, would that cause me any problems? Im planning on running 28 inch tires in the stock widths. I am also looking at keeping the stock offset in the rims to try keep some of the added wear and tear off ball joints. but also wouldn’t mind a 5+2 offset. If i go the 5+2 that would put me over a 50 inch width ?

32 inch gorilla silverbacks vs 32 inch ITP mammoth mayhems

In the feuture I am going to replace the stock rims of my ace with 14 inch rims to fit one of these two tires. I have already lifted my ace 2 inches and wheel spaced my ace 2 inches. I am an avid mud bogger often times going to Azusa Canyon OHV to posobly get my machein stuck. But, I also do trail riding and whant the tire that cancan do bot realy well if posible. If I had to chose one of the two tirrains I spesified above, mud would be more important. Which tire is better for me? thank you for responding. 🙂

maxxis zilla or mega mayhem

ok change my mind not going with outlaws 2. but still like the mega mayhem and like the zilla’s as well. looking at 28" in both tires the mayhem cost more and weigh a little bit more as well. so the zilla have less tread depth than mayhem. need little help.:ponder:

tire recomendation for MN

I have a sportsman 570 and want to upgrade tires/wheels. I ride in MN. Mostly hard pack trails with occasional mud crossings but no hard core mudding, and it will be ridden in the winter also. I am looking at the Bear claw HTR, Grim Reaper, and the STI Black Diamond XTR. I think all 3 will handle what I want to do. I just cannot decide which one. I am thinking the standard 12" wheels and 26" tires. any tips or help would be great. thanks
