Hi all. New to the site – looks like a lot of great things here.
My machine will randomly shut down at low speeds. It doesn’t matter if the handle bar are cranked or not on a turn – so I don’t think its the vent hose. It seems to happen most at the moment when I let off the throttle. If I leave it in gear after it shuts down, sometimes it starts no problem, sometimes it will do one crank – then nothing. Otherwise I have to shift it back into park for it to turn over – which it will no problem. Battery cables are tight. I have just under 600 km on it and it has done this between 20-30 times. I would take it to the dealer , but I’m stuck in the middle of northern BC for another 2 weeks.
Any trouble shooting ideas? I’m no mechanical expert, so the more detailed the advice, the better.

I noticed that the previous owner played a lot with the throttle stop screw to control the idle because the machine was not idling well (I found holes in the intake boot). How do I adjust this properly?
I am also confused about the carb idle screw that folks generally recommend to "turn out" 1.5 turns. I cannot find this screw. I feel stupid. I even have the manual and diagrams. This is externally accessible, correct? I am worried my carb is missing a screw or something…
So i found out yesterday when i got my fourwheeler not wanting to overheat i shut it off after like 2 hours of riding and it popped really loud like out of the exhaust then today it kinda made a little pop im wondering is this a bad thing? like it will have to be fixed asap? or what could this be?
My 850 xp is stuck in high range and wont go back to reverse or low range it will show low range but no engagement. It will only go forward in high range have to play with it to get neutral any insight would be greatly appreciated:damnit:

Was out for a ride last weekend with the wife and the Xplorer stalled, restarted got us almost back, and then died. Tried to start it again, and nothing. Engine was seized with 0 movement. I definitely need a rebuild, but not sure if I just melted the piston, or completely destroyed the engine. No fluids were leaking after failure and the crankcase seems to be undamaged (externally). I have not attempted to take anything apart yet.
If there’s someone in or near Winnipeg who would be willing to perform a rebuild based on whatever is needed (top end, lower, complete) can you please get back to me?
I just don’t have the time to rebuild as my daughter is in and out of the hospital a lot while she’s fighting cancer.

:headache: My 2005 ATP 500 is overheating to the point the coolant boils out of the overflow. The fan and HOT lamp do not come on when this happens. The fan and HOT lamp do not come on when I disconnect the thermistor. The fan does come on when power is run directly to the fan harness.
I am thinking that since the fan and HOT lamp do not come on when the thermistor is disconnected, the problem may be the ECM (Sure Power box) rather than the thermistor. The red/white wire from the ignition switch is providing 12V as the RUN signal to the ECM.
So my polaris atv fan i have it running all the time now so i dont overheat the engine anymore but now it tells me the battery is dying faster than its charging i believe its because of the fan running but its not the actual battery that came with the atv i got one from my buddy cuz mine is shot i need a new one but this battery is near new what can i do to make it so it charges it normal? sometimes it will not pop up but then it comes up for a few mins then stops
