Sort of a jerky start from 0 mph.

I have two 2001 Sportsman 500s. One (green) I purchased last fall, the second (yellow) last week. I noticed the yellow one hesitates for just a second upon giving it gas from a stand-still, and then it sort of jerks into motion, in both forward and reverse. I can hear a clicking noise when it does this. The green one has a smooth acceleration from a stop.

Is there an adjustment on the clutch or something I could look into to see if I can get the yellow one to start off smoothly? I wonder if there’s some gunk or something holding up the clutch movement and would a shot of WD40 help?

Any thoughts?

Winch motor

I am in the process of putting a winch on my sportsman 570 myself. For some stupid reason, my brother took the cap off the motor and i want to make sure i put it back on the way it is supposed to be. Not too familiar with how the guts work on this thing so any help would be appreciated. Mainly trying to figure out how the copper tabs go back in, do they need to be evenly spread apart or do they just set on top of the shaft? Thanks.

ADC problem

Newbie here. Have 2012 550 eps touring and 2014 xp 550 eps. Went through stream maybe up to to foot rests. Xp 550 no problem. 2012 blew 20 amp drive fuse. Put in new fuse and it immediately blew. Got back to camp and investigated. Found wire to adc was shorting to ground. Checked wiring, no obvious problem other than the fact that it shorts. Suspected a problem with the coil. When I got home from camping trip, retested and now all is normal including resistance to both awd and adc coils (I have a FSM). Fuse no longer blows and no short to ground. Suspect water issue. Why on 1 atv and not the other? I haven’t pulled the gear drive out (big job) but will if necessary. Should I not worry about it or proceed with pulling out the gear drive and pulling the cover on the adc and investigating coil looking for short? Would greatly appreciate advice from more experienced users. Thanks.

Did a rebuild on my 850 ,now i cant get it to start has fuel and spark ,i have tore it down twice to check the timing ,all marks line up,flywheel tdc mark is lined up with split in casing and timing gear marks are at 9 and 3 ,any suggestions what it could be ,it just spins over

magnum 425 2×4 wont start cold please help!

hi anyone who will listen! I have an issue with my magnum, don’t get me wrong it runs very well once going but when it has been sitting for few days or weeks or whatever, it takes about 2-3 minutes of cranking it over to get it started! I have just ignored it for ages but am now doing some maintenance and want it fixed. once it has been running it will fire up instantly.. its got me stumped. also has an idleing issue, wont idle so I screw out the cable a fraction at throttle end and it idles too high and grinds with the gears!
I took the bike to polaris a year or so ago to get fixed and they put bigger jets in the carb and it flys at top end and idled for about a week and then did same thing again.
any help would be hugely appreciated, im a do it yourself man as cost is huge at dealers, it just that starting problem is getting me pissed off!!

2007 sportsman 500 efi surges at 4500 rpm

Hey people. Have owned my sportsman since new and just last ride she started crapping out. Was into my ride about 1.5 hours and it had some severe and rhythmic surging when you try to go past 4500. Idles fine. If you held the throttle steady it would drop to around 1200 and back up to 4500 and down again in about a five second cycle. Would eventually reduce the top rpm that I could rev to , down to 1500 – 2000. Made for a stressful return to truck. Seemed that shutting off for 10 seconds and restarting would help for a couple minutes only. Did all the checks and repairs to wire harness for t-bap, tps, and the little stepper motor. Cleaned out throttle body. All rubber mounts secure. Throttle cable adjusted. Even checked condition of harness to speedo pod. Found the rubber boot holding the t-bap sensor in the intake was shredded. Replaced it. Another ride today was same good hour of ride and the surge returned. At first I had no fault codes but this time I have 22,45,47 codes all sensors nfg at once. Whats the chance of the stepper motor winding in and out changing the mixture and surging . What would cause such precisely timed fluctuation in rpm and power. I even read of the plastic filter thing on the crankcase breather pipe cracking and make surge issue. Any ideas? Thanks
