Electrical problems in starter circuit – Ranger 500

Need some help from the electrical gurus out there.

Tried to start my ’98 Ranger 500 recently; the starter turned over but quickly spun down- just like if the battery was bad or undercharged. The batter was fairly old, so I went ahead and replaced it with a new one-but it still won’t start; it won’t even turn over now.

At this point all I know is that the battery is good. Unfortunately the Ranger is at my camp, about 50 miles away, and I haven’t had a chance to go through everything with a test meter; in the meantime I was hoping someone could give me some guidance.

If a starter fails, does it just not turn over, or would it spin down like I described? Could this be a ground problem? Any other suggestions as to where I should start?

how does my water pump work?

I had my bike parked in the garage went for a quick ride when i came back to park it i noticed a small amount of coolant on the ground so i looked around and saw that it was leaking out of my water pump gasket but i noticed my pump only has one port and i was wondering how does this pump work with only one port?

does the inlet come from inside the impeller and the outside the port is the discharge that is the only way i see it working

Swamped 2011 Sportsman 500 HO

Hey guys, swamped my Polaris yesterday in what I thought was a puddle turned out to be much deeper. The bike stalled in the water and I got winched home … Once I got it in the garage I checked the air filter and there was a bit of water in there but it wasn’t full or anything …. I checked the oil and it doesn’t look like anything got in there. I can start the bike no problem and it idles fine just when you give it gas it will stall … Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you,

2013 500 ho belt creep

i have read many posts on belt creep for different models, this is my experience with a 2013 500 ho. i have read about one way and two way bearings of the primary clutch, come to find out this model dose not use the bearing at all on the primary. what i found on a machine with less then 500 miles is the secondary clutch buttons were wore already. after researching the buttons i found that polaris superseeded the number and upated the part (different shape) and hopefully a harder plastic. buttons were replaced and problem solved . hope this helps some one else. also check out EPI they have replacement buttons , sold as a 10 dollar kit.

Grounding issue

Bike is a 02 scrambler 500 just got it and haven’t picked up a manual yet the 4×4 isnt right. Armature plates are bent and tabs wore off. However i have a question about the wiring when i disconect the 2 plugs (one for each side) and use a test light grounded to frame i an getting very weak voltage on both wires on both plugs and a higher voltage when i flip the awd switch to on. I watched a video and it said the brown wire sould be a ground. With the hubs apart the doesnt apear to be any magnetic force to old the armature plate. Am i on the right track

Hand shift parts.

Hi all! I made an account just to ask for help on how to repair the 86 Trail Boss i just bought. One thing that was needed to make it driveable will be fixed 28th a good 22nd. The other I need the spring that is on the right hand shift lever… I need to know where I can find a spring that wraps around that lever. The one on it has no tension to keep it in drive. If there is a place I can find one that would be highly appreciated.
