New to these Atv’s, now I need a little help. I just got a Battery Tender, and want to hook it up to the machine. How do I get the Battery out, I know stupid question but non the less its a real one.
After looking for it for about 10 minutes located it got the cover off, but don’t know how to get it out of the casing so I can clean the contacts and hook the Tender to it.
Another question I use it to plow snow, and when I go to lift the blade I have to hit the in switch some times 3-4 times before it will engage. What do I look for here, and what is the remedy? I know contacts have to be clean and that is what I want to do as part of the service, need some advice.
New to the forum and got a question about my 2008 Sportsman 800. Every time I start it the speedo needle jumps up and down between 0-20 mph and it jumps from park to reverse to neutral and sometimes low too. Any ideas on what would cause this and what I can do to fix it? Also on the last ride I went on every time I’d put it in reverse and try to back up it’d quit unless I held the override button in, and then it’d run fine. Any ideas and help would be appreciated.
So I just picked up a 95 Polaris Sportsman 400 4×4 and I can seem to get any of the lights or the electric start to work. I bought a new battery cause the old one was junk and still can’t get anything out of it. It will start if I use the pull start but still no lights. This is the first Polaris I have owned so I’m just seeing if anyone might have run into this problem before or can at least point me in the right direction.

They are shot on my wheeler. The rear one seems fine, but the front just bounce as if nothing is there. Are they rebuildable or does one have to replace the whole shock (I see the they are just clamped into the hub/ knuckle assembly) Also, is there supposed to be any kind of travel limiter of any kind? When I lift it up, it kinda bangs hard like the end of the shock rod is what is limiting the suspension travel. I know in any other machine that is bad for the shocks, but there doesn’t appear to be any other limiting.
Hello all, new guy with a ’94 400L. I hope this is in a suitable sub-forum to post in. The issue is that my drive/ primary is starting to go. It has a nice metallic rattle at idle, and goes away once it starts to engage. I’ve looked it over and found the buttons are gone between the spider and the moveable sheave. Also, the weights are starting to wear into the sides too. My question is do I rebuild the clutch, or just get a used one from somewhere (ebay, etc.) rebuild kits and whole used clutches seem to be about the same price. Despite being an avid snowmobiler for the last 16 years, I haven’t had to do much with clutches aside from cleaning and such. I do have a source for a potential free good clutch off a cousins’s ’04 Trailboss 350 that he is scrapping. The clutches appear to be the same, but I haven’t confirmed yet. Should I go that route or? Thanks for any suggestions or help.
I have a basic 2005 Polaris Ranger 500 4×4 that I use on my farm. After you ride it for 20-30 minutes it just dies. When you try to start it back it just cranks. The battery comes on and has plenty of power for the lights to come on. After 45-60 minutes it will crank right up like nothing was ever wrong.
Any suggestions. Thanks for the help.
I’m having some issues with my Sportsman 700.
The last few days the check engine light comes on, flashes hot in the instrument cluster, even if not ran at all. One day the warning shifted between HOT and OIL.
When this happens during driving, it runs fine on idle speed, but when speeding up, it cuts off frequently, so you’ll be jumping back and forwards. It doesn’t die completely. Seemed like I was able to overrun this by pressing the mode button.
The last thing that happened, is that the speedometre needle is going crazy,(when engine is off).
There is probably some water in the instrument cluster, as the lid is not sealing properly, currently taken off to dry out indoor.
Also, the AWD symbol is stuck ON, but it’s not engaging the front wheels at any point.
Anyone have some ideas where to start? Need some help on this.

i was just moving my sportsman around the yard and it just stopped moving all of a sudden and started making whining noise i took the belt cover off hoping it was just the factory belt finally give out but it was not. The primary doesn’t turn with the motor like it used to in the past times I’ve had the cover off. I’m thinking the transmission has givenout. I use it for mudding and it has just over 100 hours any thought and help will be most appreciated.
