I just bought a 2005 Sportsman 400 and would like to change the oils. Is sticking to the Polaris brand oils necessary for proper lubrication of the machine? This could save me a 60 mile trip and some cash if there are other lubricates that work. John

My 2007 sportsman 700 has developed an issue. I t will start fine and runs great, but at idle it will slowly get a little rough and then die. I thought maybe it was some bad gas or moisture . Any help or suggestions on where to start and what to check would be greatly appreciated. It is an EFI model, thanks

How god are the clymer manuals? How complete are they? I’ve got a 95 400l 2x4and it’s totally different than anything I’ve ever worked on so I need detailed info. Are engine rebuilds covered?

I have a 2005 Magnum 330 4×4 with front drive acting strangely.

Symptoms:
With the 4 drive switch on, the front locks in and works fine.
With the switch off, it will disengage as expected.

The strange behaviour is when the rear wheels are spinning, but the front wheels are not spinning. Such as stuck in the mud or doing donuts on the ice. At times like this, when the RPMs get high enough (3k-4k), the FRONT END LOCKS IN UNCOMMANDED. It’s very noticeable and can’t be good on the drive train. This surely isn’t normal behaviour, is it?

What I’ve tried:
I completely disassembled and cleaned the front diff. The plastic cage and bearings were in good shape. The armature plate didn’t seem warped, but I replaced it with a John Deere MIA 10656 as documented elsewhere here. Cleaned everything and filled with 5 oz of Polaris demand drive fluid.

No luck, it still does it.

I even unplug the electrical plug to diff and it still does it. So I don’t believe it’s electrical related.

Any suggestions?
First, is this normal behaviour?
Second, what else should I look at trying?

Is the second winch in 4 years and it quit I told Paris and they told me I had to purchase a new winch. The contactor box that sits under the winch has corrosion in it has any one run onto this problem and if so can just the contactor be bought.

Trying to purchase a new carb and all im finding is non ho versions,will they work on the ho?TIA

So I just bought an ATV and the check engine/hot light come on at start up and the fan kicks on right away. The guy I bought it from says that he has replaced the ECM before and is convinced that if I do it will fix the problem. Any thoughts? Thanks
