2004 Sportsman 600 twin electrical problems

I have a 2004 Polaris 600 sportsman twin and am having electrical problems. I just put a new battery in last week and took it to the mountains this weekend. It ran fine on short rides but when I took it for an extended ride up some steep terrain something on the right side of the motor started to make a lot of weird noise. After a few more miles I slowly lost power to the point where it stopped running. I had to jump start it to get it going again to get back to camp. After it cooled down the next day it started with no problem. Is there something behind the cover on the right side that acts as an alternator that could be going out that made the noise and caused the problem?

05 Sportsman 800 tranny issue

Hi all,
I have an issue where the rear universal joint pin worked it’s way loose wear a small hole in the tranny case. I have had any issues driving (don’t use it much) but it still has some fluid in there.

Is there any way to seal this hole (about an inch long)? Or I am screwed?

Help. Is my stator bad or my voltage regulator?

Hey, i have a 2009 sportsman 500 ho carb model. Ive been getting the battery light flashing on my display when driving. I measured the volts at the battery and it is around 13-14 when idling, making me think the stator is fine, when i rev the bike up to 5000rpm the voltage will go as high as 18v. This is when my battery light will flash, when i turn the lights on or the fan comes on to give it some load the battery indictor will go away, could my voltage regulator be going, possibly over charging the battery?

Help. Is my stator bad or my voltage regulator?

Polaris hawkeye 300 4×4 pickup coil

Hey guys, newbie to the forum. Need some help with my 07 polaris hawkeye 300 4×4. Yes it’s a no spark issue. Fun. But I think I’ve isolated the problem to the pickup coil. It is showing proper resistance but it’s not showing a pulse up at the cdi. I have a service manual with all the steps and it could still be a combination of the cdi and the pickup coil but the pickup coil is looking like its having the bigger chance of being the problem.

Now my question is where I can get one of these pickup coils. The stator kit from polaris includes it but it’s expensive at $350 and my pockets arent that deep. Im wondering if I could just find another pickup coil off another polaris that has the same resistance and if that would work or even exists. The pickup coil’s resistance is 530ohms +/-20%.

Any other ideas are appreciated. Need to pay tuition and this thing needs to go….but needs to run first. Please help. Thanks

Sportsman 850 – oil change frequency

When I read the manual it calls for oil change every 12 months or 1600 km (1000 miles), and same with demand drive oil, and front and rear gear case and transmission.

I just called the dealer and the service guy told me that’s only required for the first oil change. Then he said you can go 5000 km (3000 miles) between oil changes, diff fluid changes. Something doesn’t seem right especially since the manual clearly says it should be EVERY 1000 miles.

Am I reading the manual incorrectly??
