Hi guys. New to the forum here. I’ve done some searching around online and not coming up with any solutions for my issue. I have a 94 250 trail boss. Picked it up last winter from a kid that was having issues with spark plugs fouling and didn’t want to mess with it anymore. After winter was over, I replaced the carb guts and, after some minor carb adjustments, it ran fine. And it still runs fine unless the outside temp is above about 85-90 degrees. When we hit that temp, the quad runs fine for about 5-10 minutes but then gradually begins to lose all power, mainly low end power. If going uphill or through brush (anything that needs some extra umph) it will just bog down and pour exhaust out like crazy. It doesn’t die, just bogs so bad it won’t move. Again, this is only when the weather is hot. Any ideas??
Hello, I’m looking at buying a 1994 300cc two stroke 2×4 but it’s got a problem I need to know about before I go spending any money. I’ve searched extensively, but the best info I found (although not exactly related to my problem) was here so I thought I’d ask you guys.
The ATV starts and runs fine, low range and reverse are no problem but high range… Well, you can start rolling, and it does go forward, but once you give it much throttle the engine just revs and you don’t get any additional forward motion.
If it were a manual I would say the clutch was slipping, because that’s exactly what it feels like, but as I said, it goes just fine in low range and reverse so I’m rather confused as to what the problem could be (unless it is the clutch and low range/reverse just don’t put enough load on it to cause problems? Or it could be the CVT belt?) If anyone could enlighten me I’d be very grateful. I’ve got until Monday to decide whether to go ahead with the purchase or not.
I’m reasonably competent mechanically so I’m pretty sure I can fix it (if someone can tell me what’s wrong), I just need to factor parts into my purchase price.

I understand why amp hours are important to deep cycle situations where the battery is not connected to a continuous charging system (solar applications, ‘total loss’ vehicles with no alternators). But why are amp hours important to starting/cranking batteries? Sure you need enough amps to start the engine, but after that the vehicle’s charging system kicks in, so who cares how many amp hours it would run without charging? I don’t see how that matters except 2 rare conditions: if you accidentally leave the key on and also if the engine is having trouble turning over and you have to crank longer than normal. Other than that, I am failing to understand why starting batteries make a point about amp hours or anything other than cranking amps. What am I missing? thanks
My 2013 scrambler 850, cuts out going up hills. Runs perfect on flat land. Has fuel and clean air filter, found a loose wire in throttle housing not sure where it goes or if it’s related

Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone might have some advice for me in regards to my breakdown…
My buddy and I were heading into our favourite fishing lake on our quads, I had him riding my 1999 polaris sportman 500…
He has little experience with quads, he was riding behind me when he said it suddenly stalled, then about 10 seconds later one of the rad hoses (the little one near the bottom of the motor, about 3 inches long) exploded! By the time I got to him, I could tell the bike was HOT! so I looked at the fan, where the wiring connect to the fan, that connector was pretty badly melted, anyways I went to try and start it to see what would happen, and the start button (its the style where you push up on the killswitch) was seized solid and very, very hot.
of course I know these issues need to be fixed but what caused all this?
anyways once the bike cooled down I was able to do a trailside repair to the hose, fill up the rad and get her going by taking power straight to the starter with jumper cables and ride her back to the truck.. My buddy and I doubled the rest of the way into the lake joking about how good the fishing would need to be to make up for all the hassle… well 24 beauty rainbows in 6 hours did the trick!
I have a 2012 Sportman 850 EX EPS Limited Addition. Bought it used, with very low mileage a couple of years ago. Since I have had it I have put in 4 new fuel pumps. It worked well for 700 km, and then it started intermittentlty losing power. After it sits for awhile it runs fine for awhile, and then the same problem starts again. I connected a pressure guage to the fuel pump and found it was losing pressure. I replaced the pump and went probably about 500 more km. and then had the same problem again. I replaced the pump and changed fuel stations to try different fuel. Same thing happened again after 5-600 more km. Replaced pump again, and the problem came back again after about 250km. I am at a loss as to what else it could be. Dealership has no idea either. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated as I don’t want to sell it in this condition and dealer will give me nothing on a trade-in. I’m fed up with driving such an unreliable quad, and at $350 a pop I can’t keep doing this!
