Anyone else having problems with camshafts, lifters, and bearing failures ?
Friend has a 2004 700 carb that he has rebuilt twice. All new parts including oil pump, water pump, all bearings, case where bearings set were perfect dimensions, use high zinc oil for brake-in, cleaned and flushed radiator. Change oil and filter every 400-500 miles. All so installed new crankshaft last time. Does anyone know of a high pressure/volume oil pump for the engines.
Well, I have taken my 04 Sportsman 700 (carb) down to the bare bones, and it is now all back together, and running. I looked down at the fuel pump, and Ill be darned, the "fuel inlet" nipple has no hose on it at all, and "fuel out" hose is just dangling there with the filter, and another piece of hose on it. I doubt I missed all this while taking it apart. Is it possible to bypass the fuel pump. If so, I’d like to fix this.
!. Can the fuel pump be bypassed?
2. Does anyone have the diagram, or can you tell me where each of the three hoses are supposed to go.
It is running, and while I have only rode it around the yard since I have owned it (it needed some work), it seems to run pretty good. Maybe a little rich, but not too bad.

My 2004 700 sportsman just shut off while I was riding it.I have no lights and everything is dead.I checked 3 circuit breakers under the cowl and they were all clean with no rust and I had 12 volts on both wires. Is there a 4th breaker I missed? It will turn over if I jump it across the starter solenoid. What should I check next? What is this in the pic I attached under the #21,could it be the problem and how do I check to see if it’s bad.I got this pic off the web not from mine but it’s the same. Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just replaced coil & magneto it started but not without help and when it did start the rpm’s maxed out and had to shut it down. Is this a carb issue our with what I just did to the bike?
I have a 98 sportsman 500. my first problem is the starter turns the engine over but it wont crank it, I have to use the pull cord to start the engine. My biggest problem is when it gets hot it wont idle and if it shuts off it wont start back up until it cools down. it had a warped head on it when I got it so I put a head on it and adjusted everything according to the Hayes Repair Manual. I need help.
I’m looking to get a crankcase for a 1995 xplorer 400 4×4, does it have to be for a 95 400 or will other models and years and even size of engine fit? I’m only needed the right half so I want to make sure it’ll fit before I get one. Thanks.
