I am giving my 2011 polaris sportsman some much needed maintenence this weekend. I need to know the torque values for a few things. I know I should probably just buy a manual but hopefully someone here can give me some info without it. I need the torque values for these:
Ball joints (front)
Tie rod ends (front)
Axle nuts (front +rear)
 arm bolts (front + rear)
Lug nuts (front +rear)
Also, one more question, I know the rear shocks on this are adjustable for stiffness. But I’m not sure how to do it.

I bought Shell Rotella oil (T6) 5w-40 for my first oil change. I notice on the bottle it says for diesel engines. Is this a good oil for atv’s or should I get another brand. This is the only oil that walley world had in that weight.
I’m scrolling the the maintenance sub forum looking for some alternatives for front diff, rear diff, engine oil, and oil filter options.
There are a ton of threads that mention this stuff but it would be nice to have one sticky that has all the info a newbie needs for basic maintenance.
IE.
Front diff fluid options are: xyz
Rear diff fluid options are: xyz
Engine oil options are: xyz
Engine oil filters options are: xyz this fits 400, 500, 570, 850… don’t most of the newer models use the same filter?
Any chance someone is up to the task of creating a thread like this for the betterment of the forum?
I have a 2008 sportsman 500 efi that my wife drove into a tree. She’s ok but it broke just about every piece of plastic on it. Can’t find much on eBay any suggestions as to where to get new or used plastic parts?

I was running my 425 today went through some water
Then drove about a 1/4 mi and it starting trying
To die and run really rough. It starts…idles fine…
But when i give it gas it chokes and has no power?
And it was almost like a switch was turned? Or something
Electrical blew?
Any ideas?

Hello I am back to ask some inquiring minds about a recent problem I have been having. The quad will start up and idle just fine but as soon as I go to give it throttle it seems like it skips a beat and bogs down sounds like its sucking air.
I have replaced the spark plug as well as a full carb clean. Before doing this it kept flooding and wouldn’t run. Is this a possible head gasket or another blown gasket, I have noticed it leaks a lot of exhaust out around the pipe and flange when revving. Or could need a carb adjusment? A few times it seems to pick up and run but not all the time.
If your wondering about the clamps on the exhaust its a little mod I had to do to get rid of that pos donut seal(was getting to expensive replacing it every couple of months at 20$ a pop) and flare on the pipe so now its a piece of flex pipe and clamps.
