I noticed the code OV 17.6 on my display, the numbers changed as my rpm did.
So I looked up what it meant and as I had guessed it means Over Voltage, which points to my voltage regulator which is $100! So I don’t want to order it and then it not be the problem, so is there anything else that could be causing this?

hey guys, ive searched over the forums and cant seem to find the answer to my problem. so i bought a used 96 polaris on craigslist. i got it starting up good and than i was riding around the backyard and she just shut off. wouldnt start back up so we gave it a jump and now it wont turn over on her own. the start button worked last time i got it started. Now the only way i can get it to start up and turn over is the old screw driver trick were you touch both the solenodes. i have a clymber manual and it seems to be hooked up right. we have one red wire off the battery on its own solenode terminal and the other terminal has the red starter wire and the red/white wire coming from the starter. so basically my question is what problem does the screw driver hack fix? that is i guess were the weak link in my system is.
P.s. is there any good stickies on the brakes for these? came with no working brakes so im working on getting that going.
thanks guys!
I am having trouble finding the correct part # for the inner roller bearings on a 2002 polaris sportsman 500 6×6. The cv drive shaft is a different diameter 27mm for the inner strut roller bearings then the outer hub bearings 25mm.
online it shows all 4 bearings are the same part# which is not the case, do you have to hone the inner part of the roller bearing cage? I recently bought a rebuild kit that was supposed to fit and I cant get them past the hilliard clutch splines. Any wisdom or advice would be greatly appreciated thanks:burnout:
Anybody have any insight on how to change out the U joints in the rear driveshaft of the sportsman ATP? I’m looking at it and I’m thinking I either have to take the rear axle off, or unbolt the swingarm. This is the model with the rear dump bed, so its not like most sportsmans, its much longer. Any help would be appreciated. I got this thing gifted to me, as its sat for 4 years. So I’m basically overhauling the entire machine to use it for my father to pick up his deer, and out ice fishing. once again, any insight is appreciated. I can put up pics tomorrow if that would help any of you. Thanks again

So I was riding with a buddy yesterday and we’re deep in a trail behind his house, I went to back up and then proceed forward around an obstacle. It went into reverse than when I shifted her all the way forward into high I noticed it was actually driving in LOW gear… I stopped and tried to shift back into reverse and then forward again.. and the shifting went completely sloppy and basically it just got stuck in neutral. The screen pod registers that it’s in park. The shift linkage is all intact. It is completely connected and you can move the lever back and forth but it just stays in neutral. I think the shift shaft rod that goes into the trans may be broken. Any one ever have this happen? Know how to fix it? Is it a big PITA job to do? I’m very mechanically inclined, have tons of tools, and have pretty much tore the quad down many times, except for any motor or trans work.
THANKS!
Hoping someone can answer this question for me. Working on a 2005 Sportsman 6×6 and the chain from the mid drive to the rear drive is not in a straight line front to back, it is at an angle. Have replaced all sprockets, thinking that might be the problem, but still not in line. Now maybe it is supposed to be offset like that, but I understand that chain comes off the sprockets on a regular basis. Any ideas/photos/tips/help would be greatly appreciated.
Alright Guys I just Purchased a scrambler 400 4×4 No idea what year. Was told it was in the 90s though.
I have absolutely no spark at all. I noticed there is a black wire(last one on the right) on the left black box behind the oil res that is not connected to anything and the coil has no wire going to it. (by coil I mean the black box that goes to the spark plug)
Can anyone shoot me a straight picture of the box and where all the wires connect. I see all the wiring diagrams online but honestly I cannot read them I’ve spent hours trying.
Any help would be greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone.
