I had issues with my1994 Polaris 300 4×4 ATV leaking gas so I had a guy rebuild the carburetor. After he gave it back it was idling so high I couldnt even get it in gear with out grinding so I took it to my neighbor (Yamaha mechanic) who has been tearing it all down trying to figure out wtf is going on.
The carb kit the 1st guy used was wrong and some of the needles were too long; he also bent the float arms for some reason. The neighbor wanted me to order a whole new carb. I have the part # 3130498 but I have only found 1 and it was almost $500.
Does anyone know the specs on the original carb and know where I can get one at a reasonable price? I keep seeing references to Mikuni but I have no idea what size bore, etc.
Hi, guys, I’m back with another little problem. Today my 2003 700 sportsman started dying at idle. In order to start it I have to crack throttle wide open whether warm or cold. Have to feather throttle to keep it running at idle. Runs good above idle. I checked the coolant as my temp gauge came on and I found a little milky antifreeze, not bad, but also droplets of oil in the antifreeze as well. I don’t see any regular bubbling in antifreeze like you would normally see with a head gasket. But there are the occasional bubbles here and there. Cleaned the whole system out, filled it back up with clean antifreeze as I want to see how long this is taking and I don’t have time for a head gasket right now. Still dies at idle. I just changed the oil yesterday and their is no antifreeze in the oil. Any suggestions to narrow down if it is a head gasket, (which I’m afraid it is)? Thank you, Tom
’95 250 trailboss – pull to start fires for 2 seconds then dies , pull new plug soaking wet , dry out same thing over and over. pulled & rebuilt carb , had high idle lowered that previously, changed out fuel , air filter … thinking maybe fuel pump andor choke plunger ? was running great when parked over winter. Anyone with similar issues ?
I have done a search but cannot find anything g on this so hopefully someone can help me. 2008 sportsman 500 HO runs great foward and idles fine, when I put 8t in reverse it goes fine as usual but when I try to get more power by pressing the override it gets a little more power but starts to break up and bog at about 3500 rpm. My speedo works fine and it does show the word slow when I press it so I know the switch is working. Anyone?

So all of the sudden My sportsman 500 won’t idle unless I have it fully choked. Do any of you have some suggestions to help me straighten this out?
On a side note, Have any of you had to deal with fuel lines that melt shut? I have had it happen to two sections of my fuel system. What might cause that?

I have an issue with my 08 Sportsman. I recently replaced my Electric fuel pump and fuel line in the tank. I also did a complete tune up. I have fuel spraying out of the injector when I turn it over, I have spark when I turn it over but when I have it all together and try to start all it does is turn over. Doesn’t even sound like it wants to start. PLEASE HELP!!!!:
I wen through my new-to-me 500HO with 400 miles on it, spark plug, oil, filter, kn air filere, tranny fluid change, and then fule filetr change. essentially all the pinch clamps from the carb to both sides of the fule shut off busted in 2 when i pinch them. All replaced with SS screw clamps. Is this a common thing?
