Sportsman dies randomly with headlights on

2014 Sportsman 400 how
50 hrs 600 miles

I’m supposed to be going on a big trip here soon and my machine just did the random die again and my thought is that it is only when the headlights are on and I go over a big obstacle. Just randomly dies like I turned the key off but the key is still on, turn it off and it starts right back up. I’ve read a few forums about this and didn’t get any good answers. The machine is practically new and I’m not very hard on it. I’m quite sure it’s electrical but I don’t know much about electrical. What do you guys think? I’m going to lose my mind if this thing just dies in the middle of my vacation. I’ve changed the oil and air filter once. And it had a new gas tank put in because of a leak the first six months I had it. It has a dealer installed polaris 2500 winch.

What th hell is this pat?

I’ve got a 1999 Polaris sportsman 335 and I think I’m having troubles getting fuel to the carb. I traced the fuel lines coming out the tank that go to the 3 way (on, off, reserve) valve and they then go to something I don’t know what the hell is before more lines coming out of that eventually go to the carb. Why Polaris made it so freaking complicated just to get fuel to the carb is beyond me?

Anywho, this "part" that the lines go to has about 6 screws that secure a plate which I decided to unscrew just to figure out what the hell this thing was, has some sort of clear membrane under the plate. This "membrane" separates one of the fuel lines that goes to the carb (there are 2 that go to the carb btw) and there is no fuel in that line. That line is BONE dry. The other line that comes from this contraption flows fuel but the outlet for that line is on the other side of the membrane. What the hell is this membrane and fuel line for if there is no fuel getting past it? Is this some sort of semi-permeable filtration membrane or what? Please help!!! Every other small engine I have worked on is straight forward with a single line coming from the tank that goes through a shut-off valve, through a in-line filter and to the carb. WTF is Polaris’s deal with all this other mumbo-jumbo?

Thanks!

Electrical Problem

A good friend of mine has a 2007 Hawkeye 300 2wd and the other day when connecting a battery jump box to start for the first time this year he noticed smoke coming from under the battery compartment and now it will not do anything. I let him borrow my battery charger to charge the battery still nothing, disconnected it and took it to battery plus and they load tested it and said the battery was good. Does anyone have any idea what could be the issue, or maybe the electrical diagram so we can troubleshoot it ourselves. Thanks in advance.
