So, I bought one not to long ago. My first Polaris. It’s an 05 with 1700 miles on it and a warn 2500 lb winch. The good is that I got it cheap, the bad is that it doesn’t really run right. It used to start right up without touching the choke and was really rich. After a very short amount of time it would begin sputtering and I would have to put it in neutral and blow it out really good (heavy throttle) and it would clear out for a bit. I changed the plugs on it once and they were pretty fouled (wet fouled). So I found this guy to work on it, and he found a problem with the diaphragm and it had a larger jet than stock so he put it all back stock and it ran like a raped ape for a short period of time. So I came to get it and he told me no charge, its not fixed. It runs stronger than it ever has, idles great, but after riding for a short period of time (around ten minutes) it will sputter a little bit more, and you can stop and blow it out, but if you put it in gear to move it, especially reverse, it loses power and dies. Can’t get it restarted, but, if you turn the gas off, you can get it to fire up after a bit of cranking, and get it to run for just a bit with the gas off. Then when it is sputtering out of gas, turn the gas back on and it runs great for a bit. He and I are both lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know if you unplug the ECU on a 06 sportsman 500 EFI does it need to be reflashed. Mine turns over but does not start. sensors and harness good. I did unplug ecu to check harness and now i have a check engine light that stays on . Atv still does not start. it will not let me read codes know also

My son just purchased a 2004 Polaris predator 90cc. With no high-end I took apart the carb cleaned it all up and put it back together and it runs great. I have a few questions and answers to any would be greatly appreciated.

1. He really wants headlights and I got to be honest I want him to have them as well to make him more visible. I have read lots of threads and would really like it to look factory. It is my understanding that the headlights on a 2006 predator 90cc would fit and would not be too much for the Stator. Although a little pricey I would much rather it looks factory I just want to ensure everything is going to turn out right.

2. There is no taillight only a brake light. As far as I can tell through wiring diagrams the taillight only has two leads leading all the way to it where the tail light plugs in one for ground and one for brake light. This leads me to believe that there was no functioning taillight for this model even though the bulb and socket are capable. Again he would like functioning lights and I would love for him to be more visible when we ride.

3. The above-mentioned brake light only functions with the left brake handle. The right brake handle will not work any lights.

4. Every now and again when he pulls the left brake handle it will kill the ATV. He can immediately restart it again however for the next minute or so if he hits the left break it’ll kill the motor. It does not do it all the time it’s just an intermittent issue. The bulb in the taillight is a 12V18/5w Which I have read on other threads could be an issue if it was not the correct one. However this is the bulb they recommend you use to fix the problem.

5. The machine runs great I have a little bit of concern that the spark plug is burning black just a light powder on it but I’ve always been told when they burn black it means it’s too rich. The idol is out 2 1/2 turns in the air adjustment approximately three quarters. Everything seems to be running great in that position I just want to make sure I’m not going to cause any damage.

I have a 1991 Trailboss 350

More than half throttle in either low or high, in 2wd or 4wd the engine bogs down and then surges. Bring it below half throttle and the engine runs fine.

Hi guys, I have 2012 Sportman 850 XP eps, I have a wierd cluncking noise coming from under the seat. I have power in all gears and can ride the atv. At low speeds under 5 mph it make that noise at high speeds it fine. Brought it to the dealer, he says it’s probably the tranny and they want between 4-5g’s to possibly repair the cluncking. Bike only has 1100 miles on it, can’t possibly be the tranny. Maybe someone else has ecountered the same problem.

This started happening intermittently but now it wont start. When I turn the key and hold it, it just has a series of hard clicks. So click….click…click. I replaced the starter selanoid and i also took the starter out and cleaned it and hooked it up to a alternate power source and it spins freely. My battery is putting out about 11.7 volts. enough to power winch and other things. It is not throwing a code. Any idea what it might be? Before when it wasnt happening all the time, it was just on a codl start. once the engine got hot, and i stopped and started again, it would not do it. Now it wont start at all.

Hey I was just wondering about the Hub assembly. I have on demand fluid leaking from the inside of the hub and was hoping someone had a schematic diagram of the hub assembly to help me through the process of replacing that inner seal.
