I am new here and have read a few other posts regarding the same issues but havent figured this out yet.

I have a 2012 Sportsman 500 Touring HO and noticed that the gear indicator says H when in low and is blank when in high…(L does not show up at all on the screen). I dont really care about the indicator screen but it is preventing the AWD to function properly.

Diagnostic mode is showing low gear all over the place from 548-620 ohm and high gear just shows "—". All of the other gear positions are reporting the recomended resistance values.

I checked/cleaned the connection at the speedo and gear selection switch, checked for damaged wires and even replaced the gear selection switch but still cant figure this out…

I read about the resistance module but can not find any images of this part to reference. (I did find a small black box with wires going into it but I cant figure out a way to open it or take it apart…lol)

I would appreciate any help…

I know there have been many threads on here but either I suck at using the forum search or the forum search feature just sucks. Anyway, my son’s 400 fan comes on when the engine warms up, then runs for about 2 or 3 minutes and shuts off. Then 30 seconds later it comes on again for a couple of minutes, then shuts off. Then comes on again 30 seconds later. It just keeps this cycle up. The rad is cleaned both front and back. What sensor turns the fan on? I know many have had fan issues with there 400 but this just started on his.

Hi all and to anyone that can help.

I have a 04 Sportsman 700efi and the 4×4 won’t engage properly. When I switch it on the 4×4 icon shows on the dash, but when in H or L the front wheels don’t turn. However when I put in R with the( switch on or off ) they turn with full traction?

I did a voltage reading of the diff wires ( Gray and brown) connection point both top and bottom of the point, with the bike running(switch on) it read 10.56 volts. then I tested the battery and it was around 11.59 volts.

And at times the battery light and speedo flashes at idle.
Guessing I may need a new battery as well

Hi folks,

I was out for a ride this weekend after a recent engine rebuild on my 2002 Sportsman 700. The bike rode beautifully for about 75 miles or so – I was purposefully driving without refueling because I had never actually ran out of gas before. I did notice that when I fully released the throttle when I was going wide-open that it would back-fire once and while (I read that this is likely a seal gone on the exhaust), but again, this only happened when I would take my thumb off without a gradual release.

Anyways, the bike was showing classic signs of running out of gas (loosing power, sputtering)…but when she finally ran out, there was a funny smell and a bit of smoke as she died (almost smelt like a belt, BUT i checked the belt and it was fine). For the life of me, I can’t get the bike to start up again. Spark plugs still have spark, she tries to turn over but just wont catch.

Any ideas? I would expect a diesel to have these issues but not a gasoline. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I have replaced the fuel shut off valve and rebuilt the carb. the quad is still leaking fuel out the overflow tube while running. anyone have a suggestion to fix? thanks jeff
