I’m new to the forum and have searched but can not find a solution. I have a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 800 EFI which is showing a low battery warning and the needle on my speedometer is blinking.
I have checked the battery and at rest it measures 12.6 and when running varies between 13.2 – 14.6 so it seems as though my charging system is working correctly. The battery was replaced about 1 year ago. The bezel on my speedometer was cracked so some moisture was able to get in however I have since dried it out and replaced the bezel to prevent further moisture issues.
When I go into diagnostic mode and check to see the battery voltage when running the display shows 2.6 to 2.8 even though my multimeter direct to the battery is measuring 13.2 – 14.6. Also I have noticed that my Trip Odometer seems to reset to 11.5 miles even though I reset it to zero and drive less than a few hundred feet.
Would moisture in the speedometer cause these symptoms or are the voltage readings and trip odometer milage performed by the computer? I don’t want to replace a $400 speedometer if it may not be the problem. Also if I end up needing to replace the speedometer does that effect the mileage displayed or is that number stored in the computer? If it does zero out is there a way to have it programmed to the correct mileage?

got to drop the lower crankcase housing out of my 04 700 sportsman and replace the crank bearings.
to remove the clutch assy and flywheel and so on do I need any special tools of any kind? I have a steering wheel pulled for a car I would assume that would work for the flywheel but what about the clutch can it be removed as one whole assy and not have to dismantle it?
I just purchased my first ATV, a 2003 Sportman 700 with 1164 mile & 183 hours. All seem fine except it seems to me that the drive belt is very loud. I don’t know what it should be, but it whines at a high pitch over 7 or 8 mph.
It also seems to be getting hot. The coolant reservoir level is ok, but the fan comes on while I am moving.
I have a scrambler that has never ran on the New piston. 130 psi compression. Piston is racing right way. New reed valves. New plug. Tried 3 New plugs. Getting spark. Flywheel key is fine. Carb was cleaned. Plug gets wet every time I try to start it but doesn’t try to crank.. So confused. What should I do?
How do I test the stator? I unplugged the stator from the rectifier and need to know how to check the vac and what should it read? Using a multimeter do I check y1 to ground or y1 to y2, y2 to y3, so on?
I am new to this forum I have been doing a lot of reading but this is my first post. I bought A friends 2000 scrambler 500 4×4. he told me that he had the stator and pull start cover replaced then after that it would back fire alot. It has sat for about 5-6 years in his shed then I bought it. I replaced the battery rebuilt the carb and cleaned the whole bike. Now it starts right up runs for about 2-3 minutes this slows down and shuts off. I pull the plug and its fouled its not a wet black just a black soot. don’t know were to go next. Any help would be great.
Looking for the diameter, length and pitch of the inner recoil bolts, part #3081665. It’s listed as (10) on parts diagrams, but I’m unsure if that’s head size or actual bolt diameter, either way I’d still like some confirmation if anyone has one on hand they could put to a bolt gauge that’d be great!
Piecing together my $300 TB project and these bolts weren’t included in the purchase.
