Hey Bruce! and Blueline, long time since I been on here.
Dear All,
It’s time to replace my battery. On a long charge it’s only holding 12.2V which is 50%. I don’t need this 900LB monster leaving me stranded out in the boonies of West Virginia. When I Google 2010 Sportsman 850XP Battery, everyone of the new ones shows the polarity posts reversed. :wtf:
My battery has red positive left, black negative right, looking from the front of the ATV.
So I went to the dealer and ask for a 2010 Sportsman 850XP Battery. The posts were backwards and the battery was only 4 inches deep. My 2010 Sportsman 850XP Battery is 6 inches deep. So the parts guy looks at his book and says the 2009 is a different part number so lets look at one. Again the posts where reversed but it was 6 inches deep.
Anyone else run into this?
Anyone know where I can find the correct battery?

I recently bought a used 1999 Magnum 500 4×4 and want to change all the fluids. My local dealer said (and give me a print out) to use Demand Drive fluid in the front and rear gearcases and Angle Drive fluid in the 2 front hubs. Not sure why I questioned this but I called another dealer and they said Angle Drive fluid in front and rear and Demand Drive in the hubs. Any help clearing this up will be greatly appreciated.
As a side note, I thought I would go straight to her source and called Polaris. I was told to call another dealership.
I have a 91 trail boss 250, and this year it started being hard to start without starting fluid, and doesn’t idle. It wants to kill if I let go of the throttle. I know it’s a two stroke, but it seems to be smoking way to much, and the exhaust is pretty blue. I looked in the common carb problems sticky, but couldn’t find a matching condition.
Thanks for any help you can give,

have a 2002 sportsman 700 and i need help in naming/finding a part. where my shifting rod is mounted to the gear case there is a little aluminum piece (linkeage) that controls what gear you shift to. it mounts on a star-like nut that is all stripped out, i need to find the star-like nut and replace it. anything helps, i am stuck.
Well was out for a ride on the weekend when the quad figured it was time to go for a roll. Everything looked good upon inspection until I noticed the sloppy play in steering, removed the front cover to unvail this! Really not sure what to do about it atm but im hoping to find slme direction on here! Any advice would be awesome!

Hey guys
I have 2010 Polaris sportsman 850 touring and the fuel guage always reads 1 bar of fuel. Any ideas on how to fix this? I’m assuming it’s an electrical problem but then again I can be wrong
Thanks guys!
