So long story short, I’ve done a partial rebuild on my sportsman. Water pump seal, impeller, oil seal, crank seal, head gasket, valve cover replacement, carb rebuild, new starter and bendix. Now, here’s where the problem begins. After getting everything listed above, I went to start the beast to hear her roar with all her new parts, but no luck (should have known it wouldn’t be that easy). The starter made a terrible noise. So, I pulled the cover off, and the bendix is loose. After a week, and many thrown tools, I think I have finally found the culprit, this circled in the picture, is missing…. I’ve looked up a few parts diagrams, and I’m not having much luck finding one to replace it with. Anyone have any words of advice ?
1996 Polaris Xplorer 300 Grinding when trying to go into gear. Im assuming its getting too much fuel and idling too high? I recently had a family friend clean the carb. Could this be the issue? How can i fix it?
I just purchased a new ignition switch for my 2000 sportsman 500, the connector that connects to it had broken and shorted it out and melted both. I got the new switch but now I need to get the new 4 pin connector that connects into it. Do I have to get an entire new harness or can I get a new one anywhere? Preferably a Walmart or auto parts store.
Hi everyone. I have a 2006 sportsman 500 6×6. I left it outside in the rain for a day and it wouldn’t start when I tried the next day.speedo has water in it but price makes me not want to buy one.don’t know if that will prevent it from starting? Ive changed the starter, selenoid ,and ignition switch.still nothing.I don’t get power on the other side of the selenoid with the switch on.I can get it to crank if I cross the selinoid.still have lights and whatnot.is there a fuze inline from the switch or something?or am I chasing a bad wire somewhere?I’m in need of a fix though.upper mi and the snow is coming. Thanks all. Adam

I have a 2007 sportsman 500 efi that was cutting out from about 5500 rpm to about 6000rpm. I thought maybe the fuel filter was somewhat pluged so I replaced that and the problem actually got worse. so I’m thinking maybe they’re in the fuel lines but any ideas on what what’s causing this?

I’m sure it’s on here but can’t find the thread so here goes…. My awd doesn’t work on on my sportsman 400 therefore my awd also doesn’t work (checked).. I was told by another owner that all I need to do is the following………… Disconnect both hub coils under the radiator cover, check the ohms,28 ohm I think he said, then cut both brown and white wires (ground) tie them together with another ground wire, then ground that wire to a good ground, he said the coil ground would work. Is a fix really that simple?? No way I’m paying for a speedo that shifts into 4×4 when it feels like it lol, thanks
I need some advice on something. I went on a ride and ended up popping a C/V axle in the front end of my Sportsman. It popped inside the outer nuckle and did not come apart but that wheel would not pull any more. I was way back in a swamp and there was no option but to drive it out the best I could. I was quite surprised to find that un-like a normal diff, the other front wheel still pulled. Positive front diff??? I think not on a new bike so I looked it up on a parts diagram. What I found was alot of clutches and a very intricate and complicated diff. My question is this. Is there a chance I messed this front end up by driving it home on three wheel drive. The front wheel where the axle is broke is just freewheeling But the other wheel still pulls. The axle that is broke seems to be engaged with the diff. Sure hope I haven’t burnt the clutches or something. Some expert advice please!!
Is it possible to use a newer clutch cover assembly on an older machine?
I am thinking of taking off both the inner and outer from my 99, and replacing it with an in and outer from a newer model.
Will this work, or are the sizes way different?
