need some serious help (kind of)

So i had been having starter issues with my 99 sportsman 500, where it had a "dead spot" in it and it could usually be fixed with a smack on the starter. until one day that didn’t work any more. so I ordered a new starter from amazon, put it in and it worked. came out the next day, and it wouldn’t work, thought maybe it was the battery, but it is only 5 months old, and it holds a 12v charge. so then i ordered a solenoid (part number 4011335 labeled switch magnetic is what the dealer gave me) but it doesn’t look the same. installed it nothing only clicking from the solenoid. thought maybe i installed the wires to it incorrectly so i switched them, nothing only clicking again. i don’t know where to go from here, any suggestions or inside would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jon

Please help

I have a 95 Polaris xplorer 400 and it has recently been over heating at first I thought it could be a thermo sensor problem so I rewired my fan and put a toggle switch on it so I could turn it on manually but then I heard what sounded like water boiling and I have tried removing the thermostat but I’m not sure where it is located I found where both hoses run into the motor one on the head and one kinda behind the pull start but not sure how which is the thermostat housing

Please help

Popping out of Gear

2000 Polaris 325 Magnum 4×4.

Recently, while riding, we’ve had the gear shift pop out of forward (high) and into neutral. The problem seemed to start out small, but has gotten progressively worse. It is now at the point that it will go into gear, but as soon as throttle is applied, it jumps into N.

I’ve tried adjusting the linkage with no luck, and have no idea what to look at, or to do next.

Any ideas? TIA.

1996 sportsman 400

Hi all,
Just bought a 1996 sportsman 400 2 stroke. Its my first four wheeler. I need to replace the starter. I think i see it from the bottom up. Looks like a couple skid plates need to come off first. That’s all i can see. What am i in for? Pretty good with wrenches so i wanna try it. Any special tools needed.

Thanks

93 Sportsman hose routing

Ok so new to the world of ATV, but been around cars for decades. I rescued a 1993 Polaris Sportsman my dad bought at an auction and then parked behind one of his buildings. So needless to say in addition to the transmission chunk that went through the gear case I’m working I’m looking to figure out the small hose routings. I did do some searching and many hoses seem to be vents. Well on mine many hoses have screws stuck in the end of them. So looking for some help in determining where they all go. So here’s the list

Oil tank vents up the steering column (good)
Fuel tank vents up the steering column (good)
Oil injector/pump on LH side front of engine?
Intake rubber between carb and engine on LH side pointing down?
Bottom of fuel bowl on carb on LH side?
Carb top rear pointing to RH side is running to engine behind pull rope?
Transmission by dipstick?

Any help would be appreciated as I’m sure they didn’t come with screws from Polaris. 🙂
