I have a 2006 250 Trailblazer. The quad was sitting for a while and I cleaned the carb, replaced old gas and replaced the fuel petcock which was quite clogged with dirt and poured a little gas in the carb. Cranked her a few times and she finally started, unfortunately I wasn’t blessed with a very smart brain and I forgot to screw the throttle cable back all the way tight onto the top of the carburettor. So when it fired it was completely givin Er at highRPMs. I diagnosed the problem and started it up with no difficult, drove around my property a bit, parked it and let it idle for a little while. When I came back and got on the quad I tried to give it throttle but it just bogged down with any throttle. It starts eventually and idles nicely But doesn’t handle any throttle at all … Would love to hear some of your guys ideas! Keep in mind I’m a total novice just learning.
Hi,
I have a problem turning on low beam on my Sportsman 550 XP.
When i turn on lights with switch on low beam them doesn’t work but when i try with switch on high beam all lights work right.
I checked bulb and fuse and everythink is ok!
Any ideas on what could be the problem ?
It will start up and idil good. As soon as you hit the trottle it acts like it floods it self out or like the choke is on and runs terrible. It will back fire most of the time BAD. What are some suggestions to check. The carb was taken off and cleaned and it still does this.
I am writing because i am having an electrical problem that just keeps getting worse.
For starters the bike is stock outside of a Warn winch and Power Pivot, Hand Warmers and a HMF Exhaust.
So to begin the first issue was that the EPS stopped working. Because i wasn’t riding much i let it go. Then i have issues keeping a charge. I would jump the bike with my truck to get it running and it would always be dead a few days later when i would try and start it up. (Battery was replaced twice) At this point i cant even get power to the bike… I am constantly blowing the UNswitch fuse.
The last time i got the bike to run… as soon as i hit the winch in button it shut the bike off and it hasn’t started since. This is what probably blew the unswitch fuse the first time.
My thoughts were to remove the winch altogether and start from the beginning…. Would this make sense? At that point i would check, clean and replace any bad wires.
Also, do warn winches have fuses? I am starting to think the winch is messed up and causing a short or an overload.
Lastly… how hard is it to re-power the bike when you remove the winch? I am a little confused at how to revert the power wires as i see they run through a warn contactor box bolted to the radiator frame.
I just bought a used 2009 Polaris Sportsman XP and found that when it gets under about 20 degrees it would not start. Just a click and then a noise that sounds like a pump then nothing. I replaced the battery and now I have real problems. I have no lights and nothing on the display nor the horn, just simply no power whatsoever. If I try the winch, I do get a click out of its solenoid but nothing else. I am pretty sure I got the wires hooked up correctly, the were 3 on the positive side tied together with a zip tie and 2 on the negative, one going to a bolt under the seat and the other headed towards the rear where I hear the clicking from the winch. I have no clue what to even begin looking for outside of the logical which is the battery. I tested it at 12.34 volts and even threw a charge on it just to be safe, no go. Even if the battery were bad I would imagine I’d at least get lights.
I have not had a chance to check fuses yet. Does a fuse sound like a potential candidate? Anything else that could cause total power failure while operating the winch will make the solenoid click (clicks once then won’t click again for 2-3 seconds but is consistent).
Another thought I had is maybe I tweaked the main positive cable too much and damaged it?
Hi i have a charging problem. No charging on batteri it seems 10v.i have measure on the stator wires but i dont know whats correct.

I have a 2008 Sportsman 500 HO carb. I have to unplug the harness that plugs into the ECM for the dash to light up and to start it. I purchased and installed a new ECM but had the same problem. I brought it to a mechanic and he found a wire that had come loose. It would start but the dash lights would still go on and off. I tried to start it today and its back to square one. I have to unplug the harness and plug it back in to start it up. When I plug it in (but not all the way) the dash lights up, but when I push it all the way in the lights go out. Any idea what I should do. Thanks, Neil
