I am still having the small oil burning issue on the 550. It has close to 11000 miles now and around 300 miles of riding it will use about 4 ounces. Compression this morning was 110 on a warm to the touch motor. Not enough oil to worry do a top end yet and I also switched to a 5W50 to see if it will help. My plug is a medium tan but the ring around it is really black. What causes the ring around it to be black. The tan is good from what I read but do not understand all the black on the ring around the plug. If looking down at the plug the ring I am talking about would be the bottom part of the threads.

I have a 2008 Sportsman 500 HO carb. I have to unplug the harness that plugs into the ECM for the dash to light up and to start it. I purchased and installed a new ECM but had the same problem. I brought it to a mechanic and he found a wire that had come loose. It would start but the dash lights would still go on and off. I tried to start it today and its back to square one. I have to unplug the harness and plug it back in to start it up. The dash cluster doesn’t seem to be working right. Could the dash cluster cause everything to shut down. I unplugged the dash connection and no the atv starts up. Thanks for any help. Neil

2015 Scrambler 1000. Only 2 months old. I was riding today and noticed on the trails it would hit the rev limiter a few times on hard acceleration. I didnt think much of it, just thought the tires spinning caused the motor to over rev, but then I started riding the odd road crossing and then it was really noticeable that it wasnt over revving. When I go full throttle on pavement and have 100% traction, the quad bounces off what feels like the rev limiter, but the rpm’s are saying 5800-6200. But if Im coasting at a good speed already, like 30mph then pin the throttle, it has no issues in accelerating and runs right at 7200rpm.
Hey Guys, so I have a 2011 Polaris 800 EFI. Ive been looking at the threads on here about the same thing. I’ve tried adjusting the TPS, all within range and set at .528 ish. Smooth voltage up and down when the throttle is applied, not sure where to go next other than the dealer. Of course I’ve got the loss of sync code. Once it was set at .528 seems to be worse. I can take up up the street at a good speed and have difficulties, got plenty of kick. But when its at low idle is when I have issues. She does start nice and idle is around 1190-1200. Thanks
I just purchased a used ebs primary clutch in "good working condition" only to find that the one way bearing is completely seized up. Can they be cleaned and relubed or does this usually mean I need a new bearing. The new bearing assembly is like 150$. [emoji15]
It wasn’t too long ago I had a spark issue and after freshening up the top end it has reared its ugly head again. I have spark with the plug grounded to the head but not while installed in the head. This is our beater quad, the one you grab for those hold my beer and watch this moments. It had major electrical issues when I got it. The 4wd didn’t work and since we already have a 4×4,, carrier and front diff, the front axles, awd switch and overide were removed entirely. The etc is gone, as in removed along with the rev limiter and the wires coming from the shifter. The only wiring left on it is the headlight switch,3 wires from the key switch, the 2 wires for the push button start to work, and the hot wire from the battery to the circuit board. The wiring is strictly bare bones for it to run, charge battery, have lights and shut off with the key and a 7 inch push fan mounted in front of the radiator that is wired to come on with the key. Stator tests fine, coil tests fine along with spark plug boot. have done continuity tests on wiring and it all checks out fine. I am at a loss. Last time this happened it was the rev limiter so I removed it and viola the problem went away. I changed the frame ground, engine ground and ran a ground wire from the coil ground tab to the ground on the circuit board. The grounds are good, triple checked them. Retested stator, coil, and key switch. All are good to go. It ran fine until it busted the skirt off the piston. Had the jug straightened out and got new top end kit for it and put it back together without changing anything about the way it was wired and now it won’t fire with plug in it. Any ideas? All I have left to do is try a different battery. I know it sounds odd to have removed all the safety switches and other stuff that didn’t work and wasn’t going to be replaced but it made it easy to track down the first spark issue. It ran wired in its current configuration for quite a while with no issues and was very reliable until the piston broke. Give me your ideas, opinions, and any and all advice is welcome.
