4×2 1995 425 magnum

I’ve been working on a 425 magnum. It was running rich flooding out so like many other times on other polaris 4 wheelers i replaced the needle and seat in the carb. Fired it up after a full service and working on the carb. bike runs perfect idling and running until you open it wide open. then it runs lean. Stick a finger over the inlet for the air cleaner and it runs good again. I’ve took off the carb many times trying to find a leak but can’t find out how its running lean. Before replacing the needle it would starting flooding out but run like a scalded ape when you opened it up .

Hope I didnt do any real damage

Came out to Uwharrie this weekend. We got a good 4 hour riding yesterday with no issues.
About an hour in today in some SLOPPY red clay mud (it rained a good part of the morning) I noticed that the normal clacking noise on the right side (08 sportsman 800) seemed to be getting louder.
Then it sounded like the exhaust was getting loud.
I shut it off and the oil was pouring out the bottom of the machine.
I know I didn’t hit anything hard and the skid plates were in place anyway.
Got pulled back to the parking area, about a mile up the damn mountain… did I mention SLOPPY red mud?

Finally got it up on the trailer and get to looking and damn drain plug is missing.
I changed the oil when I got it last year and didn’t have 10 hours on the oil, but it’s not like I changed it yesterday either.

I just hope to God I didn’t destroy my motor.

Clutch cover gap?

So I wanted to take a look and see how my belt was on my 14 sportsman 400 ho and cleaned the gasket, the inner and outer plastic for the clutch cover and went to put it back on and I have a gap in one corner of the cover. The rest of the cover is tight with the gasket and did a water test and nothing was coming out of the drain hole. Is this normal? I just don’t wanna be seat deep in water and have to worry about my clutch getting wet. Can I just throw some silicone in there to seal it up?

Polaris Trailboss 250 issues

I have a 2002 Polaris Trail Boss 250…did a rering job on it and got compression at 150 lbs..Cranks right up..Idles great..Try to open the throttle up and it acts as if its running out of gas…Took the breather off and its blowing back through the carb at 1/2 to WOT…Blowing the gas back out instead of drawing it into the cyl…What could be causing this????

polaris sportsman 400 rear wheel play

I have quite a bit of play in the rear wheels. The right side rear wheel is the worst. I’m guessing it’s a wheel bearing. I was going to ride it for a decent ride tomorrow. I’m going to order wheel bearings for it. But was wondering if it’s gonna be safe to ride for a couple hours tomorrow. I know that I’ve had alot of cars in the shop that have ridden on bad wheel bearing for months that feel alot like that. I know that the danger in a car is the wheel falling off. Is it the same way with an atv?

Play in rear wheel – 2007 Sportsman 500

I still have a little play in both rear wheels after replacing a lot of components in the rear wheel. Below is the list.

1. Replaced all bushing in the rear with jccapri bushing kit (upper and lower a-arm, shocks, upper bushing for wheel bearing carrier) for the Sportsman 500.
2. Purchased brand new wheel bearing carrier with new bearings, upper bushings, and sleeves.
3. Purchased brand new lower bushings and new sleeves for the wheel bearing carrier.

After replacing all these parts, most of the play in the rear wheel is gone; however, there is still some play. The only thing left to replace is the rear axle, wheel hub, and wheel studs. Just wondering if folks have had issues with the wheel hub or stubs. Please advise as soon as possible as I would like to fix this problem over the weekend.
